Vero Beach family surprised with fully furnished Habitat home 🏡

VERO BEACH — A family of five received more than keys to a new $250,000 house on Wednesday; they walked into a fully furnished, personalized home, courtesy of Indian River Habitat for Humanity and community partners.

The Bowles family has worked through the Habitat program to secure the Vero Beach residence. They expected to walk into an empty house. Instead, they received a turnkey, fully furnished home.

"Speechless. There are no words. Still kind of unreal," homeowner Garrett Bowles said as the family toured the property, according to WPBF.

The surprise came together thanks to the I-Think Community Foundation’s Building Up initiative, I-Think Financial, Habitat for Humanity, Jetson, and the Realtors Association of Indian River County.

Those groups stepped up to fully furnish the home so the Bowles family could skip the stress and expense of buying furniture and focus on settling into their new house.

The Bowles family had already made sacrifices to prepare for homeownership. Without the comprehensive support, they said the transition might not have occurred at all.

As they moved from room to room, the emotional weight extended beyond the furnishings. For the Bowleses, the gesture symbolized stability, opportunity, and the start of a new chapter in their lives.

When a family calls, this community answers. 🏠💙

This past weekend, we celebrated the dedication of Dawn and Garrett's new home- a milestone made even more special through the generosity, compassion, and commitment of , iTHINK Community Foundation, and the Realtors Association of Indian River County.

What started as a need became an opportunity for people to come together and make a lasting difference. Every contribution, every hour volunteered, and every act of kindness reminded Dawn and Garrett of the village they have behind them.

Thank you to everyone who answered the call and made this dream a reality for this family. Together, we help open doors to brighter futures.

The Power of a Legacy ✨

Ricquita’s wall raising celebrated more than the beginning of a home — it honored a legacy of love and generosity. Ricquita’s home was sponsored in memory of Tom and Ina Strain, parents of our board member, Linda Faust.

Because of the values and compassion instilled in one generation, Ricquita and her family can now build a future filled with stability, hope, and new memories of their own.

Every wall raised is a reminder that the impact we leave behind can continue changing lives for years to come.

A little more hope, a little more progress, and a whole lot of Joy!

Last Saturday, Joy took the next big step in her homeownership journey by raising the walls on her future home!

A special thank you to Rene and Alice Donars for sponsoring Joy’s home and helping make this dream possible. From volunteer, to Board member, to now home sponsor, Rene’s Habitat journey has truly come full circle — a powerful reflection of what community is all about.
