🍀4-H Insect Investigators Day Camp🍀 was a huge success! We learned about good bugs vs bad and the differences between bugs, insects and arachnids. We went on a bug hunting adventure outside and took what we found inside to learn more about them…then re-released everything we found. We also did some creepy crawly crafts, played “Bug-Go” and observed some preserved insect specimens! Great opportunity for any families interested!

Join Nutrition Educator, Kristi Baggett, on Wednesday, June 10 at the Lamar County Extension Office for the first session of Eat Smart, Move More!

This 6-week series will meet each week, generally on Wednesdays at 11:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M.

Each session includes:
Sampling a healthy recipe
Learning about a nutrition topic
Getting active in a low-impact, fun physical activity
This program is especially designed for parents, but all are welcome to participate.

Rabbit Project registration has been extended until June 15th. If you know anyone that would like to get more involved with 4-H send them my way! Animal projects such as these are a great place to start and we will help you every step of the way! 🍀

Pre-Registration for our 2026 Rabbit Project has begun! Deadline to register will be May 29th. Call or Text 205-712-7167 to register and for more information/ questions! 🍀🐰🍀 $50 fee for project, if you already have a pet rabbit you can use your pet at no cost. Ages 9-18.

We had a creepy crawly lesson last week in Sulligent! We talked about good vs bad bugs, and the differences between bugs and insects. Students observed a brown recluse spider specimen as well as a pollinator insect collection. We went in depth about a few different types of spiders, their adaptations and why they are beneficial to our ecosystem. Then students got to create their own “Spider Tale” and drawings based on what they learned! 🕷️🦋🪲🐝🕸️

Yesterday was our Northwest AL 4-H Regional Congress! I am so proud of our small but mighty group of Lamar County participants for all their hard work and confidence presenting their projects! They all placed in their categories and went home with big smiles. 🍀🍀🍀
