All Lamar County roads and bridges should now be considered PASSABLE. Please be advised that extreme caution should still be used while traveling these COUNTY roads and bridges because of the possibility of isolated patches of ice throughout the county. With high amounts of moisture on the roads and rapidly dropping temperatures that will reach well below freezing, we expect dangerous travel conditions on all of the County roads and bridges in Lamar County with widespread patches of black ice present. For this reason, we are deeming all of the COUNTY roads and bridges in Lamar County as impassable until further notice. Driving in these conditions puts not only the driver at risk, but also passengers, other motorists, and emergency responders. Unless it is an extreme emergency, the safest choice is to stay home and avoid travel. We will be closely monitoring conditions and giving updates as necessary.

01/24/2026

While the worst threat of significant weather that would affect road conditions has shifted north, we still urge motorists to proceed with extreme caution during any travel this weekend and early next week. Please be aware that Lamar County is currently just outside the forecasted boundary for severe icy conditions this weekend, but there could possibly be isolated spots of ice throughout the county, especially on bridges. Currently, the forecast shows a better chance of widespread ice for Monday morning which could result in dangerous travel conditions. We will be closely monitoring road conditions and providing updates as necessary. If you do happen to discover icy conditions, please message us. From the Lamar County Engineer’s office, stay safe, stay warm, and have a great weekend!
