For many years, I was told that the Mayor and the governing body were not invited to our school graduations because of "political reasons."

Since taking office, I've said that we need to start acting like a community. That's exactly what we've done. We have worked to break down those walls and together we built a stronger partnership with our Board of Education. Together, we've identified opportunities to save taxpayer dollars through shared services, and we continue to work cooperatively for the benefit of our residents and students.

I want to sincerely thank Superintendent Eveny de Mendez for inviting me and the governing body to attend this year's Vernon Township High School graduation. It was an honor to celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2026 and to support these outstanding young men and women as they begin the next chapter of their lives.

When we put politics aside and work together, our entire community benefits. Congratulations once again to all of this year's graduates, and best wishes for a bright and successful future!
