Vernon has been besieged with illegal dumping on Tennessee street just west of High Street. The perpetrator who could not be located identified himself as Donny said to be of Hawiian descent, claiming to have purchased a lot on Tennessee street in either blk 32 or 35. The County clerk's and assessors office have no record of any sale of property to anyone by the name of Donny. When questioned by Town Trustees the perpetrator was unable to identify the lot he claimed to own or the property owner he purchased it from. When the perpetrator parked a sail boat in the middle of High Street. Town trustees ordered it moved or impounded and the sheriff responded and ordered it moved. Subsequently when the perpetrator moved the boat off High Street onto Tennessee St. and permanently blocked the street, in addition to adding more abandoned trailers and vehicles, and could not show proof he was indeed a property owner and refused to identify the alleged seller or which lot he allegedly owned. The Town of Vernon issued 48 hour move or impound citations to each item blocking or abandoned on or in the right-of-way on Tennessee street. Towing and impounding and cleanup will begin in the next few days unless all items are removed. Impound fee is $75 per citation and storage fee is $25 per day per item.
