Hawthorn School District 73 Hawthorn District 73 is comprised of nine schools along with an early childhood center. There are 600 employees who oversee the students' education.

Hawthorn District 73 is a preschool through eighth-grade school district where 3,500 students attend nine schools. The majority of District 73 students attend Vernon Hills High School with a few students attending Stevenson High School and Mundelein High School. JUST IN: Congratulations to Elementary South student, Joyce E., on earning 1st Place in the Lake County America's 250 K-12 Art & Essay Contest!! Joyce was recently honored for her outstanding achievement and received a plaque in recognition of her winning submission.

On the last day of school, we're looking back at one of our favorite evenings of the year—the Hawthorn Honors Banquet. 💙

The staff portion of the evening celebrated the incredible people who make Hawthorn such a special place to learn and grow. From years of service milestones to state and regional award winners, it was a chance to recognize the dedication, talent, and commitment of our staff.

The evening also included a special tribute to our 2025–2026 retiree class. Thank you for the countless lives you've impacted, the relationships you've built, and the legacy you've left across Hawthorn. We wish you all the best in your well-earned retirement! 🦅

Over the past week, our 8th graders celebrated some unforgettable milestones, from the dance, to awards ceremonies, to promotion night. 🎓

As we share these photos, we hope our entire community takes a moment to appreciate what an incredible group of young people we have here in Hawthorn. These students have distinguished themselves both inside and outside the classroom.

We hope they had a fantastic time celebrating all they’ve accomplished! More importantly, we hope they know how proud we are of them. We can't wait to watch them continue to grow, succeed, and make us proud in high school and beyond.

Tonight, during our final student recognition of the school year, the Hawthorn Board of Education proudly celebrated students who represented District 73 at the state level through Math Team, Bowling, and Science Olympiad competitions.

Math Team
Congratulations to Dylan S., Pratheek G., and Rohan F. for qualifying for state-level competition and demonstrating outstanding dedication, preparation, and problem-solving throughout the season.

State Bowling
The board also celebrated Middle School South and Middle School North State Bowling students for advancing to the IESA State Bowling Tournament: Evan L., Sam K., Everett P., Charlie O., Liam C., Henry D., Andrew M., and Skylar M. A special congratulations to Everett P., who advanced to day two of the tournament and finished 41st in the state among middle school boys bowlers.

Science Olympiad
Our Middle School South and Middle School North State Science Olympiad teams were recognized for their incredible performances at State. Congratulations to:

Following the Dr. Joe Most Improved Awards, we were proud to recognize our Eagles of Excellence. Students who exemplify leadership, character, and have a positive impact on their school community. 💙🦅

The student portion of Hawthorn Honors was also made even more special thanks to our talented orchestra students, who welcomed families with music as they arrived, and our incredible TRY students, who helped guide guests to their seats, hand out programs, and serve refreshments during the student celebration.
