:Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) Update:

We received HAP funding for month of November, and checks were sent out. We also received notice from HUD that funding has been allocated for current participants for the month of December. We expect that we will receive those payments as well, regardless of the shutdown status at that time.

**Office Update**

We would like to inform everyone that our former Director, Dave Thiesse, officially retired in September. His departure marks a significant change for our office, and we wish to acknowledge and thank him for his years of dedicated service.

At this time, I am the sole staff member available in the office to assist with daily operations and to answer any questions you may have. While we continue to strive for excellent service, this change in staffing may affect our availability and response times.

Vermillion Housing remains open to the public Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. However, as the only staff member present, my flexibility may be more limited than it has been in the past. To ensure that I am available and able to meet with you, I encourage you to schedule an appointment in advance. Making an appointment guarantees that I will be physically present in the office and able to assist you directly.

I sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding while navigating this transition period!
~Kirney

Vermillion Housing Authority would like to give a huge THANK YOU to the local businesses and local organizations that have donated to our organization. Vermillion Housing is a Non-Profit group. Recently, due to funding cuts and rising costs, the Vermillion Housing program is experiencing some trying times. However, with the help of these donations and hopefully future and continued support from the community, we will be able to remain open and serve the community of Vermillion and Clay County.
Currently, we assist 130 families, which is down from recent years of an average of 160 families. The decline is due to rising rents and funding cuts, not due to the need; currently, we have 107 families on the Waiting list for assistance.
Of the 130 families we currently assist, there are 385 total people in those families. 68 of those are elderly/disabled, and 185 of those are children who have roofs over their heads at night.

Yes, we do receive federal funding to provide a hand up to those in need. The city of Vermillion donates us office space. But we do need additional donations to ensure this program remains in Vermillion and Clay County. We are a Non-profit. Donations are tax-deductible.

Our staff and Housing participants would like to give a Huge Thank You:

First Banks & Trust $2000
Ribs, Rods, Rock-N-Roll Inc $1000
Voyage FCU $100

Donations can be sent to Vermillion Housing, 25 Center St, Vermillion, SD 57069

Any questions, we can be contacted at 605-677-7191
