City Hall will be closed Thursday, May 7, 2026, through Sunday, May 10, 2026, due to electrical repairs. We will reopen Monday, May 11, 2026.

During this time, outdoor warning sirens will be temporarily unavailable. Please stay informed by following the City of Venus, Venus Fire Department, and Venus Police Department on social media.

With the recent rainfall, the City has received an increase in tall grass complaints throughout the community.

As always, we encourage voluntary compliance and appreciate residents taking pride in maintaining their properties.

However, please be reminded that the City of Venus does have an ordinance regarding tall grass and weeds. Property owners are responsible for ensuring their lots remain in compliance.

The City of Venus Fire and Police Departments are currently accepting applications for the 1st City of Venus Public Safety Academy, and a limited number of spots are still available.

Applications will be accepted until 5:00 PM on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

On April 22, 2026, at approximately 1924 hours, officers with the Venus Police Department responded to assist the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office with a motorcycle pursuit that began in the county.

As officers arrived in the area of US Highway 67 and Patriot Parkway, the motorcycle came to a stop. The operator then fled on foot but was quickly taken into custody by officers.

The suspect was arrested by Johnson County deputies and transported to the Johnson County Jail.

We appreciate the teamwork and coordination between agencies to safely resolve this incident.
