๐บ๐ธ Juneteenth โ June 19 ๐บ๐ธ
Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and progress.
On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free. Juneteenth serves as a reminder of our nation's history and the ongoing pursuit of equality, justice, and opportunity for all.
As we observe this important day, let us reflect on the sacrifices of those who came before us, honor the contributions of African Americans throughout our history, and continue working together to build stronger, more inclusive communities.
Happy Juneteenth from the City of Venus.
