ENDORSED CANDIDATES ANNOUNCEMENT
Please see the record number of countywide candidates who sought our endorsement this year, were endorsed, and have made it to the general election.

We also have a record number of self identifying LGBTQIA+ candidates running and we have endorsed the following:

Endorsement Announcement

Many candidates submitted an application seeking our endorsement for the July 29th endorsement meeting. Those applications were reviewed by our endorsement committee and recommendations were presented to our membership for a vote.

Ultimately our membership voted to endorse the following candidates and push four to our August 20th meeting. That push had no reflection on the quality of the candidates but was merely a move so we could gather more information on that particular race.

Congratulations to all the candidates.
There are six self identifying LGBTQIA+ candidates on this list.

As the first q***r person to be elected on Ojai City Council, Rachel Lang will run to retain her seat. Rachel was instrumental in passing the CARE policy in Ojai and when she wins will keep this seat from falling into the wrong hands.

Although Genevieve Flores-Haro is running unopposed for her second term she still received the endorsement of our club. Genevieve will continue to be a history maker as the first openly q***r person to serve on the Oxnard Union High School District Board which leads the county school districts in LGBTQIA+ affirming policies and procedures.

Pedro Chavez made history when he became Santa Paula's Mayor as the first openly q***r person in the county to hold that position. Pedro will run to keep his council seat in the newly formed District 3.

Liz Campos is running to keep her Ventura City Council District 1 seat. Liz continues to make history as one of our nation's few disabled elected and a city of Ventura q***r identifying council member.

Karba Eckley is running for Ventura City Council District 6. When elected Karba will make history as the first trans non-binary person elected in the county.

Amber Thompson is running to be a trustee for Ventura Unified School District Area 4. When elected Amber will make history as the first trans woman elected in the county.

Let's keep in mind that our self identifying LGBTQIA+ especially our trans identifying candidates will likely see hateful rhetoric thrown at their campaigns. Let's rally to support them by sharing and making positive comments on their social media and showing up for campaign activities.

Again congrats to these LGBTQIA+ and strong ally candidates.

Next Endorsement Meeting Notice!
The Stonewall Democrats of Ventura County will hold our first endorsement meeting for the November 3rd General Election. The meeting will be held via zoom Wednesday, July 29th from 6:30-8:00PM.
We will hear from candidates who are seeking our endorsement in countywide races and vote on their endorsement. We will also check in with a few Stonewall endorsed candidates who made it through the primary and are moving forward to the general.
We encourage our members to attend and have their voices heard.
