Special Olympics Southern California - Region 1

Special Olympics Southern California - Region 1 Providing quality training and competition for Special Olympics Athletes (individuals with intellectual disabilities) in Ventura County.

Volunteers are responsible for making Special Olympics happen! Hundreds of volunteers organize and run local Special Olympics programs, serving as coaches, games officials, tournament volunteers, and in other capacities. You are invited to participate as a volunteer and share in the exciting personal victories of our Special Olympics Athletes! Volunteer opportunities include:
Coaches - Coaches and

assistant coaches have the opportunity to help athletes train in their specific sport. All of our sports offer direct interaction with athletes, and a chance to make a difference in their lives. You do not have to be a sports professional - we provide the training and certification in all of our sports. Fundraisers - Plan or participate in fundraising activities that benefit Special Olympics Athletes. Corporate Volunteers - Involve your company or civic organization in a local sports event. Click here to view our Corporate Sponsorship opportunities. Tournament Volunteers – Assist with everything that needs to be done to host a local tournament. Volunteers can be athlete escorts, assist with registration and volunteer check-in, keep score or times, help serve food, distribute water, etc. Professional Expertise - Use you skills and talents to help fulfill the Special Olympics mission. From public speaking, to EMT’s at tournaments, to community outreach. If you have the skills, we may have the need! Office/Clerical Support – Typing, filing, computer data input – assist with general office duties in a fun environment during regular weekday office hours. For additional information, contact the Special Olympics Ventura County office at 805.650.7717.

*** UPDATE - Our Tip-a-Cop event is ON for tomorrow night (Wednesday, July 2nd, 5:30-8:00pm)! ***
Come on out to support the Special Olympics at Lazy Dog!

Oxnard Police officers will be volunteering to "serve" - in a different capacity - to benefit the Special Olympics. Join us as OXPD officers will be waiting tables at Lazy Dog Restaurant at The Collection at RiverPark. Lazy Dog will be donating 15% of sales in this time frame to the Special Olympics through the 2025 Law Enforcement Torch Run. In addition, all tips earned by our serving officers will be donated. We hope you'll join us, bring your charitable generosity... and your appetite!

“Tip-A-Cop” is an official Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign fundraising event in which law enforcement officers and department personnel volunteer their time as “Special Guest Waiters” to collect tips at a restaurant in support of Special Olympics Southern California.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest public awareness vehicle and grassroots fundraiser for Special Olympics with more than 1,200 officers involved in Southern California championing acceptance and inclusion. Learn more at: https://sosc.org/letr/
