This training allows recruits to experience real world blast effects and gives them the tools they need to keep themselves and the residents of Ventura County safe from explosive threats. 💥This week the Sheriff's Bomb Squad, in coordination with the LAPD Bomb Squad, vcsardiveteam , FATHOMWERX , and The Port of Hueneme participated in the annual Advanced Naval Technology Coastal Trident Exercise. This month-long training program brings together public and private sector stakeholders to share information, technology and threat assessments with an emphasis on port and maritime security. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible and the residents of Ventura County for your continued support! 💣

Today the Sheriff's Bomb Squad was honored to attend the Santa Clara Valley Boys and Girls Club STEM day... The kids got to participate in arts, science, sports and robotics. The Bomb Techs got to meet O'Geezy the cow. 🐂Thank you to everyone who made this great event possible! 🙌

💥This weekend, the Sheriffs Bomb Squad, the Sheriff's Homeless Liaison Unit, and the EOD Unit from Naval Base Ventura County Point Mugu responded to Mugu State Beach Tower 14 to assist State Parks Police and Life Guards with a piece of 1950's era military ordnance that had washed up on the sand.

Prior to becoming a public beach, this stretch of sand was used as a training facility for the United States Military. As tides change and sands erode over time, it is common for military ordnance to reveal itself at this location.

The Sheriff's Bomb Squad and Navy EOD Unit examined the ordnance and determined the Super Bazooka round still contained live explosives and was too dangerous to transport. The beach and Pacific Coast Highway were momentarily shut down while the ordnance was disposed of in place. If you come across an item at the beach that "looks like a bomb" it is important to leave it in place, evacuate the area, and call 911. You will NOT be able to tell if the item is inert just by looking at it, no matter how rusted and deteriorated it may be. Stay safe Ventura County!

We are saddened to announce that over the past year, since we made this exact same post on June 30th, 2025 with over 90,000 views, multiple Ventura County residents have lost their lives, limbs, homes and freedom to illegal fireworks... We felt it was important to post again.

💥PSA: Every year, residents of Ventura County receive life changing injuries from firework mishaps. None thought it would happen to them. In fact, nationwide, more bomb technicians are injured handling fireworks than any other type of explosives. Not to mention, some of our counties' most dangerous wildfires have been the result of illegal firework use.

The possession of fireworks is not only dangerous, it's illegal. This 4th of July, let's focus on safety and celebrate responsibly so everyone can enjoy this Independence Day. The Sheriff's Bomb Squad wishes everyone a happy and safe 4th of July. 💥🇺🇲

💥This week the Sheriff's Bomb Squad was honored to attend the Fillmore Police Department's Firework Safety Demo. This event allowed the Sheriff's Office, community members, and local businesses to come together in support of the upcoming 4th of July holiday. Most importantly, it allowed the Bomb Squad to do some recruiting! 👀💣Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a reality. Let's have a happy, fun, and safe 250th Independence Day! 🇺🇲

💣 This week the Sheriff's Bomb Squad was honored to host some new members of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for an "intro to explosives" course. Huge thank you to the members of the TSA for all you do keeping us safe in our travels! 🙌

This week members of the Sheriff's Bomb Squad were privileged to attend the name dedication ceremony at the Bomb Technician Memorial at Hazardous Devices School in Huntsville, Alabama.

This ceremony honored the 22 names on the bomb technician memorial wall, including Los Angeles County Sheriff's Bomb Squad Technicians Joshua Kelley-Eklund, Victor Lemus, and William Osborn who lost their lives in the line of duty on July 18, 2025 and were permanently added to the wall this week in memory of their dedication to public service and the bomb squad community.

The Ventura County Sheriff's Bomb Squad was honored to stand beside our brothers and sisters from across the country in support of our Los Angeles County bomb technician family.
