Last month was National Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and the International Day of Prayer and Awareness Against Human Trafficking was observed last week. In response, Catholic Charities Diocese of Venice Inc. brought critical awareness and education to local parishes in Fort Myers and North Port.

Alex Olivares, Regional Director for Lee County, spoke to more than 80 community members about the realities of modern-day trafficking, how to recognize the signs, and how to safely report concerns. Human trafficking remains one of the fastest-growing criminal industries in the world — and it is happening in our own communities.

Please join the Diocese of Venice in prayer on Sunday, February 8, 2026, for an end to human trafficking.

“Peace Begins with Dignity: A Global Call to End Human Trafficking” is the theme of the International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking, observed each year on February 8, the Feast of Saint Josephine Bakhita. On this day, we pray for victims and survivors, for the grace to listen and walk alongside them, and for the wisdom and courage to address the root causes of trafficking. Let us unite in prayer for a world rooted in peace, justice, and dignity for all.

All are asked to pray on February 8, asking God for the grace to walk closely with victims and survivors, to listen to their voices, and for the strength and wisdom to advocate for systemic changes that address the root causes of trafficking. Let us pray that together we can build a world rooted in peace, justice, and dignity for all.

Christmas may be over, but we’re still in awe of the incredible children in our Children’s After-School Care Program in Fort Myers. ✨

Their Winter Wonderland Concert was nothing short of magical. From the joyful performances to the smiles that filled the room, the center was truly transformed into a place of wonder, creativity, and hope. We are so thankful for our dedicated staff who brought the magic together and made this unforgettable moment possible. 💙❄️

Moments like these remind us why this work matters — and how powerful it is when children are given the space to shine.

We’re excited to share that our Arcadia location, which recently transitioned to a daily food pantry, has expanded services even further. We now offer a clothing closet for neighbors in need—because access to essentials goes beyond food alone. 💙
