Black Butte Adventures Hike, bike, tour and Explore North Dakota's Prairie We offer over five miles of single track trail for hiking and biking along with guided ag/nature tours.

Black Butte Adventures is a hiking, biking, primitive camping and ag tourism destination in the heart of North Dakota's short grass prairie. We also have limited space for primitive camping (electricity and limited water - no sewer). You will share your afternoon with Limousin cattle, horses and critters that call the prairie home.

The weather is too nice to stay inside! Gates open until weather doesn't allow!

Our pasture management will be changed next year and we will not be open to the public. Please stay tuned for more updates but until then... get outside and enjoy the prairie!

Hunting season is here so that means our gates are closed. While we do not know what next year holds we know ALL of you have made an impact with us. We have loved having visitors and sharing our piece of the prairie with everyone. Stay safe and enjoy the beauty around you.

New cows to the pastures! The “money makers” are back in the pasture so we need to close a section of the trail temporarily. The west side (back three miles) will be closed for a bit. Appreciate your patience and understanding as the trails are fun but the pastures need to be grazed to stay in “shape” !

Wow the prairie is gorgeous right now but you are not walking alone.... mosquitos and wood ticks will be more than happy to join you on AND off the trail. Don't forget the bug spray!

We are OPEN! Be cautious as a few spots are muddy and the creek is high so your shoes may get a bit wet! Enjoy the prairie and if you can, please contribute so we can do some trail maintenance and keep the gates open!

It's that time of year again when we close for deer gun season to look out for our amazing hikers, bikers and outdoor enthusiasts. If the weather holds, we will open after season ends.
