We know it is hot, but please do not neglect your yard.
Sec. 20 of Velva ordinances state, grasses cannot be in excess of 8in high and could be deemed a nuisance. Ignoring your yard could result in a monetary fine. Letters will be going out soon.

In observance of Memorial Day, Velva City Hall will be closed on Monday, May 25.

School is almost out, which means the streets of Velva are about to become part playground, part BMX track, and part “watch this!” competition.
Please be extra careful when driving around town this summer. We all hope our kids remember the rules of the road… but let’s be honest — when they’re racing to the park, chasing friends, or trying to do “just one more trick,” paying attention to traffic may not be at the top of the list.

Slow down, stay alert, and help keep our most precious little speed demons safe this summer.

Tomorrow (Thursday , May 21) the City of Velva will be jetting the sewer system. This is an annual event that has been known to cause gurgling toilets. Our advice, close the lid.
