The #1 question we often hear families about virtual education is:
"Will my child feel connected in a virtual school?"
It's a fair question. When people think about virtual learning, they sometimes picture students working alone behind a computer screen. At STARS Virtual Academy, that is not the experience we want for our students.
While instruction takes place online, our goal is for students to feel connected to their teachers, their classmates, and the larger STARS community. We believe students are most successful when they feel like they belong.
A New Exciting Opportunity will be: Eligible SVA students CAN participate in on-campus elective experiences and activities. Students in grades 4–8, whose families provide transportation, may choose to come to campus to participate in grade-level electives and other designated activities. This option allows students to enjoy the flexibility of virtual learning while still experiencing some of the unique opportunities available at STARS.
Our Promise to You: We know that strong communication is also an important part of student success. Throughout the school year, SVA staff will regularly communicate with families through email, phone calls, and progress updates. In addition to reaching out when students need academic support, our team will periodically check in simply to see how things are going, answer questions, and provide assistance. Virtual learning works best when schools and families work together, and we want parents to know that support is only a phone call or email away.
In addition to on-campus electives, students can connect and participate in a variety of ways throughout the school year, including:
• Live instruction and classroom discussions
• Afterschool clubs and enrichment opportunities
• School events and special activities
• Our annual Book Fair each February
• Complimentary tickets to STARS theater productions and performances
Students who engage in school activities often build stronger relationships, develop greater confidence, and experience a stronger connection to their school community. These connections can make a meaningful difference in both academic success and overall enjoyment of school.
As the year progresses, we encourage families to watch for announcements and opportunities that match their child's interests. Whether your student enjoys reading, the arts, academic challenges, hands-on electives, or simply spending time with peers, we want them to find their place within the STARS community.
Virtual school does not mean learning alone. Our commitment is to ensure that every student feels supported, connected, and valued as a member of the STARS family.
We look forward to partnering with your family and helping your child have a successful year at STARS Virtual Academy.
Sincerely,
The STARS Virtual Academy Team
P.S. If your family's plans have changed and your child will no longer be attending STARS Virtual Academy, please reply to this email so we can update our records and assist any families currently on our waiting list.
