Duerring finally breaks her silence on Domestic Violence Protection Orders. She is not denying that she turned victims away at 3pm.

Watch the video. It is clear she does not understand the importance of protection orders. She was being fed answers by people off camera and still could not deliver a coherent explanation. She then deflected, and changed the subject.

Who were these people feeding her answers, and what influence will they have over the Clerk's office if she is elected?

Duerring has failed to show the citizens of Moore County that she understands the complexities of the Clerk's office.

Deborah Duerring is dangerous for Moore county.

Duerring turned away victims at 3pm. Under my watch, we process protection orders all day, and into after hours. We follow the law.

When I became your elected Clerk of Superior Court, the Estates and Special Proceedings departments were not where they needed to be. There were backlogs, disorganization, and serious operational issues that had to be addressed.

Our team didn’t ignore it. We confronted it directly.

In this radio message, a member of our staff shares firsthand what the office looked like during that transition and the work that followed.

Leadership means staying, fixing problems, and moving forward. Public service means showing up, doing the work, and leaving things better than you found them.

Leadership is about service. A recent Letter to the Editor in The Pilot highlighted Moore County's curbside service for elderly and disabled citizens, created to make courthouse access easier for those who need it most.

We're grateful for the kind words and proud to serve this community.

Letter: Great Service from Clerk

Feb 17, 2026

Recently, a task I was dreading turned out to be an enjoyable procedure.

Since my wife passed away on Nov. 16, I have been involved in putting our affairs in order. This required a visit to the clerk of court at the new courthouse in Carthage.

If you have been there, you know that parking and access are very difficult. But not, I discovered, for the elderly and handicapped. Todd Maness, clerk of court, proposed providing curbside service for those that needed it.

Although I am only 95, I have slowed down a little and decided to take advantage of this thoughtful service. You need to call and tell them when you will be there and they will be at the curb when you arrive. Your paperwork gets taken care of and you even get candy when it is done.

My thanks to Todd, who had the foresight of providing this service. And many thanks to Deputy Clerk Carol F. Davis and her staff for their friendliness and excellent service. This was a great example of our tax dollars being used to lend a helping hand when needed.
