Wine Shop Vashon is a community centered specialty wine shop with daily tastings and glass pours. Tucked away 3 blocks North of the town center, across from the Library at Vashon Village this 330 sq ft cottage hosts events like the Geology of Wine seminar and tasting with Dr. Steve Bergman. They also love to host Vashon wine makers’ events. Liz Ophoven took over the shop in June 2023 with a vision to expand seating and service to provide the island with a cozy place to enjoy a really good glass of wine with friends. The opportunity came up to expand into 1000 sq ft next door where they opened up a menu of simple, wholesome and delicious food in late February 2024. They serve coffee, NA drinks, and wines from all over the world and snacks all day long. We'd like to thank Liz for being a Bronze level sponsor of Vashon Events! We are very grateful for the support!

Croaker's last EVER Wine Shop show next Thursday (9/10) at 7pm at Wine Shop Vashon. We'd love to see everyone who has made the last two summers so fun. We will have old favorites and new surprises. Thank you Liz for hosting us and creating such a fun and delicious space for food, wine, music and community.

Croaker's brew-grass inspired music is infused with misty mountain hops and malty 80's rock. Raise a glass to a hazy blend of harmonies layered over crisp acoustic grooves. No bitter after-taste. Kim Thal on fiddle, Eric Frith on guitar, Danny Powers on bass and Andre Sapp on mandolin and guitar.

Piano Duel: Liszt vs Thalberg

A recreation of a historic 1837 battle of the two piano titans

Asiya Korepanova as Liszt with a special secret guest as Thalberg

The 1837 Liszt-Thalberg rivalry was the most legendary piano duel in music history, pitting the fiery, theatrical showmanship of Franz Liszt against the elegant, subtle "three-hand" technique of Sigismond Thalberg.

They performed their blazing concert fantasies and paraphrases on operatic themes against each other at a competition hosted at the Paris salon of Princess Cristina Belgiojoso as a benefit concert for Italian refugees.

The glittering assembly of critics and nobles refused to declare a definitive loser. Princess Belgiojoso diplomatically announced, "Thalberg is the first pianist in the world—Liszt is unique."

Vashon Center for the Arts & Vashon Chorale Presents
Mozart Requiem in D Minor

Vashon Center for the Arts & Vashon Chorale present Mozart Requiem: 9/11 Memorial Concert, a powerful evening of music, remembrance, and hope in commemoration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

Mozart’s Requiem is one of the most profound and moving works ever written—an unfinished masterpiece that continues to speak across time with beauty, grief, and transcendence. For this special tribute concert, Vashon Chorale will bring the work to life with Island-based soloists and instrumentalists, offering audiences a shared space to remember, reflect, and be lifted by the power of music.

Inspired by the “Rolling Requiem” tradition established in the year following the attacks, this concert honors the past while carrying forward a message of connection, resilience, and hope for a more peaceful future.
