Andrew Will Winery, a family-owned establishment, specializes in crafting exquisite blends and single varietal wines, with a primary focus on Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Their annual wine production hovers around 4,500 cases, with minor fluctuations. Besides the captivating blends featuring Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, they also produce Sangiovese sourced from the renowned Ciel du Cheval vineyard. While the Sangiovese's history is as rich as their other wines, it currently resides in the shadows of their more prominent varieties. Previously known for producing varietal bottlings, their commitment shifted towards creating the finest wines possible through expertly blending their most significant Washington-grown grapes, starting around 2003. Notably, Andrew Will Winery doesn't operate a tasting room, and wine pickups are arranged by appointment only. We extend our sincere appreciation to Andrew Will for their generous Silver level sponsorship of Vashon Events. Their support is invaluable to us!

The Playdate Trio in Concert
Church of the Holy Spirit
Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.

The Playdate Trio weaves together mandolin, fiddle, and bouzouki into something greater than the sum of its parts—locked-in, interwoven, and full of joyful mischief. Marla's mandolin and mandola, Rebecca's fiddle and concertina, and Lewis's artful bouzouki and guitar, create a sound built on deep listening and shared musical intuition. Rooted in Irish traditional music, they also bring life to original tunes from Marla and their tunesmith friends, along with threads from other traditional styles.

All three are accomplished musicians in their own right.

A San Francisco native, Marla is one of the prominent voices of the mandolin in Irish music. She brings a deep and distinctive sensibility to the tradition on of the lesser-heard instruments. She is a dynamic performer and a sought-after teacher. Her playing is featured on her 2020 release The Bright Hollow Fog, on the 2017 Noctambule release A Sweetish Tune, on the eponymous Three Mile Stone recording with San Francisco favorites, fiddler Erin Shrader and guitarist Richard Mandel, and on The Morning Star, a duo CD with legendary Irish singer and bouzouki player Jimmy Crowley released in 2011 — an all instrumental project that features Irish music on an array of mandolin-family instruments: mandolin, mandola, mandocello, and bouzouki. She has performed and taught nationally and in Ireland and was a featured performer at the 2018 Masters of Tradition festival in Bantry, Co. Cork.

Rebecca draws on her music studies at Mills College and years of teaching experience. Lewis is a master luthier who has been building and repairing acoustic instruments since 1986, and has played in traditional Irish bands for decades.

The trio grew out of Marla and Rebecca's 2025 duo album, Playdate, which featured Lewis's bouzouki. What began as a guest appearance revealed a musical chemistry too good to leave in the studio—and the Playdate Trio was born.

"…absorbing and rewarding…played with a lightness of touch and a togetherness which is a joy to hear." — Alex Monaghan, Irish Music Magazine

On Saturday June 13th we welcome Keith Murphy and Yann Falquet to the Church of the Holy Spirit. Each is recognized as performers in the own right. As a duo, Keith and Yann are bringing folk music of Quebec and Newfoundland together, with songs and instrumental numbers on guitars, mandola and mandolin.

A native of Newfoundland, Keith Murphy performs a traditional song repertoire drawn from Eastern Canada and Quebec as well as from his current home, Vermont. His direct and intimate style of traditional singing in English and French infuses old ballads and songs with a powerful immediacy, and his guitar playing adds driving, percussive power.

Keith was a founding member of Nightingale, a trio which broke new ground in its sophisticated approach to traditional music. He is a mainstay of the Boston fiddle extravaganza, Childsplay and has also worked extensively with Tony Barrand on the song repertoire from the early twentieth century of the Atwood family from Dover, Vermont. He also appears frequently with his wife, fiddler Becky Tracy as well as part of the Hanneke Cassel Trio.

Keith is an accomplished composer and arranger in the realm of traditional music and has also composed for theater and film. He is a featured performer on well over a dozen recordings and a guest musician on numerous others. His versions of traditional songs have inspired recordings by other groups including Solas, Uncle Earl and Great Big Sea. Several of his compositions have been featured on the recent Ken Burns’ documentary on the Roosevelts.

Keith is a faculty member of the Brattleboro Music Center (BMC) and the artistic director of the BMC’s Northern Roots Traditional Music Festival in Brattleboro Vermont which he founded in 2008. He was a featured performer in the Boston Revels 2016 Christmas show and he is the music director for the WGBH Boston public radio’s annual Celtic Sojourn St Partick’s Day concerts held at Sander’s Theater and elsewhere in New England.

Yann Falquet is a dynamic Québécois guitarist in the world of traditional music. He is a versatile artist who has already explored several styles and, although well-established, continues to deepen his knowledge of both creation and interpretation.

In 2000, Yann co-founded Genticorum, a Québec-based traditional music trio with Pascal Gemme and Nicholas Williams. Since then, he has traveled the world sharing the group's songs. Over the years, he has collaborated with Seamus Egan Project, Hanneke Cassel, The McDades, Olov Johanson (Väsen), Liz Carroll, Bruce Molsky, Cillian Vallely & Kevin Crawford (Lunasa) and Montréal composer Jean-François Bélanger's ensemble.
Without abandoning these enriching collaborative projects, Yann decided to invest some of his energies in a solo project. Inspired by folk music from near and far, he expresses his love of traditional music with a new sound.

Juneteenth: Day of Celebration

Vashon Center for the Arts

June 19 |3-5pm

FREE COMMUNITY EVENT

Join us for a joyful and meaningful Juneteenth Day of Celebration at Vashon Center for the Arts—a gathering rooted in history, culture, and community.

Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021, marking a long-fought recognition of emancipation and the enduring legacy of Black freedom struggles in the United States. While this national acknowledgment is significant, Black communities have been honoring and preserving their history and culture for generations—often in the face of systemic barriers.

This year, we’re honored to welcome Dorothy Berry, Digital Curator at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, who will share stories of lesser-known individuals whose work helped safeguard Black history for future generations.

The day will also be filled with vibrant celebration. Experience the powerful rhythms and movement of Gansango Music & Dance, enjoy free food, and connect with neighbors in a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. Children are especially encouraged to attend—this is a space for learning, joy, and togetherness across generations.

This free event invites everyone to come together in reflection, celebration, and community.
