🌸🌿 Thank You, Vandalia, IL Beautification Committee & Volunteers! 🌿🌸

The colors of spring and summer are beginning to bloom throughout Vandalia, and we have a dedicated group of volunteers to thank for helping make our community look its best!

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Vandalia, IL Beautification Committee and their volunteers for their hard work planting flowers and enhancing public spaces throughout our community. Their efforts help create a welcoming atmosphere for residents, visitors, and everyone who enjoys spending time in Vandalia.

The care and attention these volunteers put into beautification projects make a noticeable difference. From adding color and charm to creating attractive spaces for people to enjoy, their work reflects the pride they have in our community.

Volunteer-driven projects like these help make Vandalia a more vibrant place to live, work, and visit. We are grateful for the time, energy, and dedication the Beautification Committee invests in helping our city flourish.

Thank you for helping keep Vandalia blooming beautifully! 🌷☀️🌼

Today was a little dirty and a whole lot of AWESOME! 🌼🪴🤎

A huge THANK YOU to the incredible student volunteers from VCHS, Coach Jason Clay, Superintendent Jennifer Garrison, Tammy Westendorf, Kim Bogle, Theresa Knebel, Nathan Finley and James Jackson for rolling up their sleeves and helping refresh our Downtown flower pots! Together, we tackled the dirty work by removing the old soil and filling the pots with fresh dirt to get them ready for a beautiful season ahead. 🌸

It may not have been glamorous work, but it was the kind of community teamwork that makes Vandalia shine. From shovels scooping to dirt flying, these volunteers showed what community pride looks like... even if everyone left a little dirtier than they arrived! 😄

Thank you for helping us keep Downtown Vandalia blooming bright and beautiful! 🌷☀️

🇺🇸🎩 What a Meaningful Afternoon in Vandalia! 🎩🇺🇸

We were so grateful to see such a wonderful crowd of community members and visitors join us to celebrate Lincoln’s Birthday and officially kick off Vandalia’s commemoration of America’s 250th Birthday this past Saturday, February 7, 2026!

The Vandalia Statehouse State Historic Site was filled with history, music, and pride as we honored President Lincoln and began a year of celebration leading up to our nation’s Semiquincentennial.

A special thank you to:

✨ Kim Lake for her leadership and partnership
✨ Mayor Doug Knebel for his opening remarks and support
✨ Fritz Klein as Abraham Lincoln for bringing Abraham Lincoln to life in such a meaningful and memorable way
✨ Our dedicated volunteers who helped make the afternoon run smoothly
✨ The Vandalia Community High School Band Vandalia Community Music Boosters for their patriotic performance
✨ And of course, for the delicious birthday cake and cookies that made the celebration complete

It was a wonderful event filled with reflection, learning, and connection — the perfect way to begin Vandalia’s America 250 journey.

Here’s to honoring our history and celebrating the next 250 years — together 🇺🇸❤️💙
