(1)

Educational Opportunities for Children & Families (EOCF) is a leading provider of comprehensive early childhood education and family support programs in Southwest Washington. As the second largest social service nonprofit organization in Clark County, EOCF serves more than 1,350 children and families annually within the federal- and state-funded early learning programs the organization provides. T

he primary mission of the organization is to provide a pathway to success for children and families furthest from opportunity. With success, EOCF has seen generational impacts of families overcoming poverty and expanding on their personal growth development. As the need for early childhood education grows, EOCF continues to be a thought leader in this space, providing partnering organizations and local leaders with data that supports the efficacy of EOCF-operated programs including Head Start, Early Head Start, Early Childhood Education & Assistance Program (ECEAP), and the recreational program HotShots Youth Sports for grades 1 through 6.

A Massive Thank You from All of Us at EOCF! 🌟

We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to the incredible Momentum 5+1 group from Leadership Clark County. Over the past few months, this dedicated team has poured an immense amount of time, energy, and hard work into supporting our organization.

They took the time to truly understand EOCF's mission and operations by conducting thoughtful, in-depth interviews across our team. The empathy and professionalism they brought to every conversation did not go unnoticed.

Our CEO, COO, and Development team had the privilege of attending their final presentation, and to say we were impressed would be an understatement! We were appreciative of the insights shared and truly cannot thank the group enough for their dedication and effort.

As a culmination of all their hard work, they have delivered a comprehensive playbook that is going to be an asset for our strategic planning moving forward. Having this level of detailed, actionable guidance equips us to serve our community even better in the years to come.

Thank you, Momentum 5+1, for your partnership, your sharp insights, and your deep commitment. We are so excited to put this playbook into action!

Watching this life cycle up close is a perfect reminder of why we are so excited about our new EOCF garden currently taking root in Battle Ground! 🌱 As we continue building this interactive outdoor classroom for our early learners, creating a welcoming habitat filled with plants like bright sunflowers and delicate forget-me-nots for local pollinators is a crucial part of our design.

β˜€οΈ Hello June, and Happy National Say Something Nice Day! πŸ’›

June 1st is the perfect time to kick off the new month by spreading a little extra positivity! At EOCF, we believe that teaching kindness is just as important as teaching the ABCs and 123s.

In our classrooms, we see every day how powerful kind words can be. When children learn to use positive language, they are doing some incredible social-emotional heavy lifting:

πŸ—£οΈ Modeling Positivity: Children learn by watching us. Hearing adults give genuine compliments teaches them how to look for the good in others!

🀝 Building Empathy: Practicing kind words helps little ones understand how their actions and words impact the feelings of their friends.

πŸ’– Boosting Confidence: Hearing positive affirmations helps children feel valued, secure, and ready to take on new challenges.

Let’s start a ripple effect of kindness in our community today!

πŸ’¬ Tag a friend, a teacher, or a family member in the comments below and say something nice about them! πŸ‘‡

A story of incredible resilience and partnership! 🏑✨

We are so proud to share a beautiful full-circle moment from our community. When this family first connected with us while navigating a housing transition, they brought immense determination to secure a stable foundation for their children. By partnering closely with their Family Advocate (FA) to navigate resources and advocate for their needs, they successfully achieved their goal of finding a safe, permanent home.

The journey gets even better! We are absolutely thrilled to welcome this phenomenal mother to our team as a new employee. She now brings her invaluable insight, strength, and deep commitment to community directly to our workforce. Building upon families' inherent strengths to create thriving futures... that's the power of EOCF! πŸ’™

The sun is setting on the work week, and we are heading into the weekend with some extra wind beneath our wings. We are still buzzing from the success of our recent gala, and we have a very special shout-out to make.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines for their incredibly generous donation. Support like this does more than just fund a single evening; it fuels our mission for the long haul. This contribution ensures that the momentum from our gala carries forward, allowing us to expand our programs and reach more individuals in need.

"Community is at the heart of everything we do, and partners like Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines make the impossible feel reachable."

Simply put, their support means many more great weekends and brighter futures for the community we serve. We are beyond grateful for their commitment to our cause. Now, it’s time to take a breath, recharge, and get ready for the important work that lies ahead.

Happy Friday, everyone! Alaska Airlines

πŸ’š May is Mental Health Awareness Month! πŸ’š

At EOCF, we know that building strong children and healthy families starts from the inside out. Mental wellness is not just an adult topic. It begins in infancy, takes root in preschool, and thrives when the whole family is supported.

From helping our young scholars navigate big emotions in the classroom to providing parents and caregivers with the tools they need to de-stress, mental wellness is woven into everything we do. When we care for our emotional well-being, we build resilient futures for our kids.

How you can practice mental wellness with your family this month:
🌱 Name the feeling: Help your kiddos put words to their emotions. It is okay to feel sad, mad, or overwhelmed!
🌱 Take a breath break: Practice taking slow, deep "balloon breaths" together when things get hectic.
🌱 Lean on your community: Remember, you do not have to do it alone. EOCF is always here to connect our families to support, guidance, and resources.

Let's break the stigma, open the conversation, and lead with empathy. How are you checking in on your family's mental wellness today? πŸ‘‡
