A raven has become my animal totem. Yes, a raven visited me as evidence of this fact.

Said Raven visited me last fall and the following is an interpretation of the visit.

When Raven Flies Into Your Life

"Raven is assuring you of the impending change. He brings with him the ability to bend time and space for the perfect moment at the right time. He signifies rebirth, renewal, reflection and, healing. He helps the transitions and transformations move along smoothly by casting light into the darkness."

"When the Raven enters into your life, human and animal spirits intermingle. It is in the blackness that the Raven symbolizes that everything mingles until it is brought forth into the light. The Raven can help facilitate this moving into the light as well as shifting your life or your being." (Elena Harris, Spirit Animal, The Raven Spirit Animal, https://www.spiritanimal.info/raven-spirit-animal/, para 2)

I cannot begin to explain how completely correct this has been.

Last night during a walk, I encountered a recently dead crow. It was in the grass under the cedar trees that sheltered me from the rain a few weeks ago.

I left an offering of food to help the crow's spirit on its journey to the afterlife. I also offered a quick prayer. Divine assistance during that journey could be useful.

A small white kangaroo visited me in a dream. At first, I thought it was dead. When it did get up, it came to me for protection and warmth. There was a predator of some sort that was going to eat it.

I can't say I have ever really "thought" about kangaroos so this one was a bit of a surprise.

So far, a kangaroo has strength and stamina. One site stated a kangaroo is often a sign to stop procrastinating. The color white...

Wish me luck.

Winter Solstice has passed...did the sun light feel like it stayed longer?

As I continue reading and learning, I have come to realize there is a "push" to incorporate Wicca into Druidry. I am still forming an opinion on this approach...input would be appreciated. My initial impression really leans to the "not for me" side...

I have been trying to understand why a Druid dressed in a particular manner. Researching the subject has led me to a couple ideas.

1. Robes of different colors were used depending on the "job" at hand.

2. Leather was worn if a Druid was expecting a battle. The descriptions do not indicate this was hardened leather armor but, only the ancients would know that answer.

What about weapons?

During the Iron Age, swords, spears, daggers, sickles, and axes were found by archeologists. When the Druids fought the Romans I would assume they used all weapons available.

At the same time, Native Americans were using copper for weapons. This was often seen in arrowheads, knives, and spears. The use of clubs and hand axes were also common weapons and tools. Horseback riders often had shields. Medicine Men used a ceremonial shield to protect their spirit.

What does this mean? Druidry has no dogma so use the information if it applies to you. I have ideas but, that's for a different post.

This was the book that acted as my starting point. The author is amazing.

Started a new book last night. So far, I am really impressed. This particular was endorsed by a few respected people.

I probably shouldn't be doing this but, if the critters can be a little less stressed through the winter, why not. I have a family of squirrels, a murder of crows, a mouse, a rat, and a few others who seem to appreciate it.

Yes, that is a security camera.

For the Druid types out there. That "plate" is a block of Birch. Fitting?

Well, I have started preparing for some outdoor adventures with my wife. Very exciting.

I've been kinda of cooped up; and sick. The wife and dog are both asking when I am going walking again. Apparently, it has a very positive effect and others have noticed. Druidry FTW.
