We'd like to take a moment to recognize a dispatcher who went above and beyond for a caller experiencing a difficult, sensitive medical problem. Terry handled the call excellently by triaging needs, providing instructions and, most importantly, displaying a high level of care and empathy to make sure the caller knew she was being taken care of by someone who cared. Thank you to Terry for his service, excellence and compassion!

Twenty-five years ago today, nearly 3,000 people lost their lives in the September 11 attacks. We remember them and the families, friends, and communities who have lived with their absence ever since.

We especially remember the first responders—firefighters, law enforcement officers, and emergency medical personnel—who died while helping others. They gave it all to save lives.

Today, we pause to honor those who were killed, those who sacrificed, and all of us who still carry the weight of that day.

⚠️Some Clark County residents may have received a Tornado Warning alert today. The warning is for Columbia County, Oregon, and does not include Clark County, Washington.

Wireless Emergency Alerts are sent through cell towers in and around the warning area. Because cell tower coverage does not stop at county or state lines, some people outside the warning area may also receive the alert.

There is currently no Tornado Warning for Clark County.

Please continue to pay attention to emergency alerts and follow any instructions for your location.⚠️

Teamwork in action. 🚒🚓

Yesterday’s wildfire near Yacolt brought together more than a dozen agencies and organizations across fire, law enforcement, emergency management, public works, and utilities—all working together to protect our community.

This photo captures just one part of that effort: representatives from multiple agencies working side by side during a Unified Command meeting.

At one point, 33 law enforcement officers were assigned to the incident, and CCSO deputies contacted 79 residences with evacuation notices.

Thanks to the tremendous response and coordination of everyone involved, no lives or homes were lost.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who worked tirelessly in the heat to keep our community safe. 🙏🏻

UPDATE: Hidden Meadows Fire

As of 6 p.m. this evening (8/26) all Level 1 (GET READY) evacuation zones have been released and all clear message was sent out.

A huge thank you to all of our partners working hard to keep everyone safe over the last two days. Right now is a great time to sign up for Clark Public Alerts if you have not already. Clark Public Alerts allow you to receive information by text, phone, and/or email about evacuation notices for wildfire and/or gas leaks, law enforcement concerns, and any other serious, potentially life-threatening concerns. Alerts are sent to specific neighborhoods directly affected by the situation.
