Last week we celebrated National EMS Week by recognizing our crews for the work they do daily. This year we were able to end EMS week with a prime example of what we are recognizing our crews for, the things they do on the daily and how they impact the lives of our community.
On Friday paramedic Kyle Koehn and EMT Connor Foster (M1623E) along with providers with Fire District 6 were recognized for a life saving cardiac arrest response.
The emergency occurred in mid April when a member of our community suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at home. AMR M1623E and Station 61 crews rushed to the scene and immediately began advanced cardiac life support. Thanks to their teamwork and rapid intervention, they successfully achieved ROSC (Return of Spontaneous Circulation) in the field.
The patient was transported to Legacy Salmon Creek, where he went made full recovery.
Friday evening the patient was able to meet face-to-face with the paramedics and EMTs responsible for saving his life.
This incredible outcome is a testament to the skill, precision, and dedication our providers bring to the community every single day and reminds us why it is important to celebrate and honor our first responders, not just once a year, but what the do day in and day out.
