Canning and Preserving - WSU Clark County Extension WSU Master Food Preservers of Clark County is a highly trained volunteer organization that promotes safe home canning, food preservation and food safety.

The WSU Clark County Extension Master Food Preservers are a group of trained volunteers, operating under the direction of Sandy Brown, Food and Nutrition Faculty of WSU Clark County Extension. Under this program, we share information related to food safety and food preservation throughout the Clark County area, at community events as well as specific classes intended to teach others how to safely preserve and store foods.

Our Master Food Preserver Program is on hold right now. But we have another great opportunity available!

WSU Extension Clark County Extension is running a 7-week Aging Mastery® Book Club.
The program will launch on November 1st.
But space is limited. Participants need to RSVP by October 25th, 2021.

About the Aging Mastery ®️ Book Club
The Aging Mastery ®️ Book Club helps individuals create their own playbook for aging well via actionable goals, sustainable behaviors, peer support, and incentives. The program encourages mastery—developing behaviors across many dimensions that will lead to improved health, stronger financial security, and overall well-being. People get a chance to meet new friends, provide support and encouragement to their peers, and become more involved in their community.

All Aging Mastery ®️ Book Club participants get a complimentary Aging Mastery®️ Starter Kit valued at $30.

Please bring your canner lid with gauge, or just gauge. If you own an All American canner, please only bring the gauge.
This is a drive thru testing, you will remain in your car while we test and sanitize your gauge. Please wear a mask.

Interested in learning more about safe food preservation. WSU Clark County Master Food Preservers are getting ready to offer some classes via zoom starting Tuesday August 18th. There will be 8 sessions each Tuesday from 5:30 -7:30. Topics will cover Jams and Jellies, canning fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, soups, beans, pickling and drying and more.

Did you know? The CDC has noted a substantial increase in reports related to cleaner and disinfectant poisoning since March 2020 compared with previous years. Almost half the calls were associated with children under five years of age.
