We are heartbroken by the loss of the crew of AirCare 3 during yesterday's crash in Madison County. The fallen have been identified as Dustin Pope, 35 of Philadelphia, and Jakob Kindt, 37, from Tupelo. The Med-Trans Corporation pilot was Cal Wesolowski, 62, of Starkville.
UMMC will continue to provide support for the families of the fallen, our AirCare and Mississippi Center for Emergency Services teams and the countless others who worked with them in any way we can.

Tornadoes can be extremely dangerous. Safe places include storm shelters and basements — but if not available, an interior room without windows can also be protective. If you receive a tornado warning, take shelter immediately!

Attention Bibb County citizens: We have received reports of a phone scam targeting our community. Individuals are posing as "Deputy Steven Scafford" and are asking residents to return their calls, often leaving a callback number and saying you have a warrant . They are also spoofing our phone number and calling from it to make you think it’s the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. This is not how the Bibb County Sheriff’s office handles warrants nor any other agency handles warrants .

Please be advised that this is a scam! If you receive a call like this or have any doubts about the legitimacy of a call from our office, do not hesitate to verify by calling us directly at 205-926-4683.
