We are looking at a great calendar of events next week! If you can't wait until that long then be sure to stop in this evening for Love on a Leash and meet Rocky. In addition, with a guided tutorial you can paint Rocky's portrait and take the skills you learn to paint your own pets!

Hoosiers are hurting after more than a week of historic storms and record flooding. Some libraries have suffered greatly, including our not so distant neighbor, Yorktown Public Library.

If you are a library lover, if your life has been improved and supported by the services of libraries, if your child has benefited from summer reading programs, or you’ve just saved a little by being able to borrow books instead of purchasing them, then I encourage you to donate to Yorktown.

Very, very rarely do businesses and/or individuals carry flood insurance if the property isn’t in a flood plain and flooding has stretch so far beyond flood plains all over the state. For this reason there will be tremendous need and lots of opportunities to donate. If you wish to support businesses and individuals with their losses, please donate through vetted sites. If you need help determining if a donation link is safe, please stop by the library and we will be happy to help.

You can safely and securely donate to the Yorktown Public Library through the link provided.

Join us for the inaugural meeting of a new VBPL adult book club, Let's Taco 'bout Books! 🌮📖

On Wednesday, August 26 at 6 pm we'll gather to TACO 'BOUT The Correspondent by Virginia Evans. This gem of a novel is presented exclusively through letters that detail one woman's journey through self reflection. It's a quick read and offers something for everyone. Best of all, it's currently available at VBPL!

Oh, and it's BYOT - bring your own tacos! Hope to see you then!

Please note that the library closes at 5 pm on Wednesdays and will remain closed to any other activity during book club.

Back to school season looks different for some students. We want to be sure we remind all of our students that the library is a place for them! If you are a local homeschool family, we invite you to join us for our monthly homeschool meet up. It's a great way to meet other students, find and share resources, and make new connections.

Please reach out if you have any questions!

Reminder! We will be close at 5 pm today and reopen Monday at noon. If you haven’t stopped in yet with your student, do so today between noon and 5 and grab a back to school photo and some FREE school supplies while they last! And of course grab some books to last through the weekend.

With her mom’s approval, we just had to share this photo of Allie who not only attended story time but read to us and did a phenomenal job!! Allie would also like to start a book club for kids her age, though she did say both her mom and I can be members, as well. Knowing Allie, she’s going to invite everyone to join so stay tuned for further details on Allie’s book club. I think it’s going to be bigger than Oprah’s.

Reminder: back to school story time today at 10 a.m! We have some great stories about kids (and teachers!) with back to school jitters. We hope we can reassure your little one today and help them feel confident about starting school.

And don’t forget about our back to school Photo Booth! Stop by today or tomorrow and take a picture of your student (any student - let’s never stop learning!) Mark that off your to do list and make Thursday morning load a little lighter!
