**Blue Shield Grant Awarded to Carter County Sheriff's Office***

The Carter County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that Carter County has been awarded funding to purchase a new Search & Rescue Side-by-Side for the Carter County Sheriff’s Office.

The Missouri Blue Shield Program is a statewide initiative established by Governor Mike Kehoe to recognize counties, cities, and towns that demonstrate a strong commitment to public safety, crime reduction, support for local law enforcement, and community partnerships. Communities seeking the designation must demonstrate efforts such as investing in public safety, supporting law-enforcement recruitment and retention, participating in community-policing initiatives and regional anti-crime partnerships, and maintaining compliance with state reporting requirements. Communities that earn the designation become eligible for Missouri Department of Public Safety grants that can be used for law-enforcement equipment, technology, and training, helping local agencies obtain resources that strengthen their ability to protect their communities.

This achievement is the result of the strong partnership between the Carter County Commission and the Carter County Sheriff’s Office. Through this partnership and the county’s commitment to supporting public safety, Carter County qualified for the Blue Shield designation and subsequently received grant funding that will allow the Sheriff’s Office to add this valuable piece of equipment to its fleet.

The new Search & Rescue Side-by-Side will provide the Sheriff’s Office with an important resource for search-and-rescue operations, missing-person incidents, emergency response, disaster situations, community events, and other situations where access to difficult or off-road terrain is necessary.

I want to emphasize that this grant award is about more than the equipment itself—it represents what can be accomplished when county leadership, community partnerships and law enforcement work together toward a common goal.

I am extremely proud of what the Carter County Commission and the Sheriff’s Office have accomplished together. This grant is a direct result of that partnership and our shared commitment to making Carter County a safer place. This Search & Rescue Side-by-Side will give our deputies another tool to help our citizens when they need us most.

Today was AWESOME!!! 🇺🇸🚨

First things first — MyFlare owner Steve Jones flew in from Florida for today’s active shooter training at East Carter School. We were honored to have Steve join us, speak with our team, and bring some exciting news: MyFlare technology will be expanded to all of our school buses! 🚌

Our second guest flew in from Dallas, Texas — Laurie from Command Go! She came to announce that Carter County is the first county in Missouri to receive their FLAG technology, giving law enforcement another powerful tool to communicate and coordinate with one another during critical incidents.

We were also honored to have representatives from AT&T FirstNet join us. They are partnering with our schools, MyFlare, and the Carter County Sheriff’s Office to help identify and fill communication service gaps and strengthen our emergency response capabilities.

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing community, our dedicated teachers and school staff, and my incredible team at the Sheriff’s Office for continuing to work so hard to make Carter County safer. Thank you to East Carter Ambulance and Carter County Health Department for providing medical education.

We are getting noticed — not just here in Missouri, but by major companies and organizations across the United States. Carter County may be small, but we are leading the way when it comes to school public safety and protecting our kids!

I also would like to say thank you to Ripley County Sheriff Rad Talburt and Wayne County Sheriff Kyle Shearrer for attending today's training! They came to check out the technology we are using so they too can increase their jurisdiction safety. Thank you.

We are proud of what we are accomplishing together, and this is only the beginning!

Today was an amazing and meaningful day at the Carter County Sheriff’s Office.

The Van Buren Assembly of God ministry team came to the Carter County Jail and baptized 12 inmates, while also providing a full meal for everyone.

These 12 individuals made what many described as a life-changing decision today. As Sheriff, I am incredibly proud of each of them for taking a step toward positive change and choosing a new direction in their lives.

A special thank-you to the Van Buren Assembly of God ministry team, Pastor Dave Truncone and Joel Chambliss for taking the time to come share their faith, encouragement, and compassion. I also want to thank our staff for helping make this opportunity possible.

Taking a step in a positive direction can be the beginning of a whole new journey.

Today must have been a day of community kindness to our office! We also had a visit from the wonderful folks at the Van Buren River of Life Church. They brought a special meal to the jail and staff! Carter County may be small, but the hearts of our community are big! Thank you all!

Carter County’s First Jail and Bail Fundraiser arrest!

Members of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office successfully completed the department’s first fundraiser “arrest” — and this time, the suspect was none other than Sheriff Alonzo Bradwell!
The Sheriff was taken into custody for the serious offense of “working too hard” and was sentenced to the ultimate punishment: eating a meal with his deputies! 😂

Now it’s your turn!

Citizens can stop by the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Office to purchase a fundraiser warrant and have some fun by putting a warrant on a friend, family member, coworker, or anyone else who deserves a little good-natured trouble — all while supporting a great cause!
