The Valley Falls Police Department is accepting applications for one Full-Time Police Officer position in Valley Falls, Kansas.

💰 Pay: $22.00–$25.00 per hour

We’re looking for a motivated, dependable individual who wants to serve our community and make a difference. Previous law enforcement experience is preferred but not required, and candidates must possess or be able to obtain Kansas police officer certification.

Minimum requirements include:
• At least 21 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
• No Brady/Giglio violations or KSCPOST sanctions or disqualifications

We greatly appreciate everyone who honored the temporary no parking request along Broadway during the event. Thanks to your cooperation and patience, not a single vehicle had to be towed. That is a direct reflection of a community that works together and respects one another.

A reminder to all residents and visitors that NO PARKING will be permitted on the 200, 300, 400, and 500 blocks of Broadway on Saturday, July 11, for the Red, White & Classic Car Show.

🚫 Please have all vehicles removed before the event begins. Vehicles remaining in the restricted area may be towed at the owner's expense to ensure the event can be set up safely and efficiently.

We appreciate your cooperation as we welcome classic cars and visitors to downtown Valley Falls. Thank you for helping make this year's Red, White & Classic Car Show a safe and successful community event!

Today, we proudly celebrate Independence Day and the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. For 250 years, our nation has stood as a symbol of freedom, courage, and opportunity because of the sacrifices made by those who came before us.

As you enjoy time with family, friends, fireworks, and community celebrations, we encourage everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.

🚔 A few friendly reminders:
• Enjoy fireworks responsibly and be considerate of your neighbors.
• Keep a close eye on children around fireworks.
• Watch for pedestrians and increased traffic throughout the day.
• Stay cool and hydrated during the summer heat.
• If you’re celebrating with alcohol, please have a designated driver or make plans for a safe ride home.
• In the event of an emergency, call 911.

Today, we’d also like to recognize and thank those who are working while the rest of us celebrate.

🎆 Fireworks Safety Reminder – City of Valley Falls Police Department 🎆

The City of Valley Falls Police Department would like to remind everyone that consumer fireworks may only be discharged within the city limits during the following dates and times:

📅 June 27 – July 5

🕗 Sunday – Thursday: 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM
🕗 Friday – Saturday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 Midnight

Please be courteous to your neighbors by only setting off fireworks during these legal hours. Keep a safe distance from people, homes, vehicles, and dry grass, and never allow young children to use fireworks without close adult supervision.

Let's all do our part to ensure everyone has a fun, safe, and enjoyable Independence Day celebration!

⚠️ SEVERE WEATHER REMINDER ⚠️

With the possibility of severe storms in our area, we want to remind the public that the school serves as a community storm shelter when needed.

The shelter can be accessed from Oak Street at the east gym entrance. The Fire Department is typically responsible for ensuring the doors are open and available for public access during severe weather events.

Please stay weather aware, have a safety plan in place, and monitor local forecasts for updates.

We understand that school pick-up times can get busy, and everyone is trying to get in and out quickly.

However, we’ve received multiple complaints about vehicles blocking private driveways and parking in restricted areas along Francis Street.

Please be advised:

No parking is permitted on the south side of Francis Street from Walnut Street west to the alley (approximately 170 feet west of Walnut Street).

This restriction is in place to ensure traffic flow, maintain access to residences, and allow for emergency vehicle access if needed.

We ask everyone to be mindful of where they park and to avoid blocking driveways. A little courtesy goes a long way in keeping our community safe and respectful.
