🏫 Hoosic Valley School Budget Revote Coming
The original 2026-27 budget was defeated on May 19 with unusually high voter turnout and about 62% voting against it. The district has since amended the proposal and scheduled a budget revote for June 16, 2026. The issue has generated significant local discussion about district finances, reserves, and the future direction of the school system.

👩‍🏫 New Hoosic Valley Superintendent
The Hoosic Valley Central School District Board of Education appointed Michelle Gabree-Huba as the district's new superintendent, effective July 1. She brings more than 20 years of educational experience.

🎓 Summer Program Registration Open
Registration is underway for the Valley Falls–Pittstown Summer Program serving local students. Information and registration materials are available through the district.

🎡 Schaghticoke Fairgrounds Event
The America 250 Celebration is scheduled for June 26, 2026 at the fairgrounds. Organizers are currently seeking craft vendors and participants.

Nothing against real farmers, but if you’re operating a oversized CAFO (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation) in Valley Falls, it would make more sense to manage manure in your own town than continuously transporting it into a neighboring Town. The added truck traffic and associated impacts are a concern for residents. It makes no financial sense? Thanks for your understanding.

If the school is going to release incomplete information like this, it’s hard to have confidence that they’ll make any meaningful changes to the budget or avoid bringing back the same proposal for a second vote. Some towns within the district haven’t had a reassessment in over 45 years, which is creating increasingly uneven conditions across the district.
