SCHOOL’S OPEN - DRIVE CAREFULLY! 🚌📚

As students head back to school today, VCFD is supporting AAA’s annual School’s Open - Drive Carefully campaign to remind motorists to slow down, stay alert, and use extra caution around schools, buses, bus stops, and children walking to and from school.

🛑Remember 🛑
When a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, you MUST stop. Passing a stopped school bus is illegal in New York State, including on divided roadways.

📸And don’t assume no one is watching...
School buses in Rockland are equipped with stop-arm cameras that automatically issue tickets to vehicles that illegally pass them. Violations come with hefty fines.

Give yourself some extra time, put the phone down, watch your speed, and be prepared to stop. Our students are counting on all of us to get them to school - and back home - safely.

Emergency Preparedness Training is being offered at the Rockland County Fire Training Center!
This free NY Citizen Preparedness class will help residents learn how to prepare for emergencies, create a family emergency plan, build a preparedness kit, and stay informed before, during, and after a disaster. Each family will also take home one FREE preparedness kit.
