NDFOP recognizes the importance of treating those with PTSD, particularly those who have received this diagnosis due to workplace injury, with dignity, respect, and access to appropriate care. Just like with physical injury when WSI claims are filed.

Unfortunately during our last legislative session, too few ND State Senators agreed and SB2181 which would have done exactly this, wasn't passed. Hopefully next session more legislators step up and protect those who protect them.

On the evening of April 10, 2026, the Valley City Police Department located a vehicle submerged in the Sheyenne River near the 1300 block of Riverview Drive. Due to elevated spring water levels and strong currents, the vehicle could not be safely recovered at that time.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was contacted and temporarily reduced water flow from Baldhill Dam to lower river levels, allowing for a safe recovery operation.
On the morning of April 11, 2026, the vehicle was successfully removed from the river with assistance from Valley City Fire and Rescue, Gille Auto, the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office, Barnes County Ambulance, and the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
With assistance from the Wahpeton Police Department, the vehicle was confirmed to belong to Al Odden, who had been reported missing since April 1, 2026. Mr. Odden was located deceased at the scene, and his identity has been confirmed.
Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Valley City Police Department.

NDFOP congratulates Fargo Attorney Mark Friese on his appointment to the North Dakota Supreme Court! Mark is not only an accomplished local attorney, contracted as an FOP Legal Defense Plan Attorney (who we will certainly miss), he is also a former Bismarck Police Officer and retired North Dakota Army National Guard Lieutenant Colonel. We believe this wide range of experience serving people in public, military, and individual service will make him an awesome addition to the Court!
