🪨 Ever had a rock crack your windshield on the freeway? This might be one reason why. 👀

Our Commercial Enforcement Unit stopped this truck for an uncovered load of rocks and no license plate on the trailer. A closer inspection revealed the trailer was overloaded, had defective safety chains, no emergency breakaway cable, expired registration, and a large gap allowing rocks to fall onto the roadway. 🚛⚠️

Whether you haul for work or just have a weekend project, secure your load and make sure your equipment is safe before hitting the road. 🦺✅

Your fellow motorists (and their windshields) will appreciate it. 🚗💨

The California Highway Patrol continues to make progress in the fight against organized retail crime.

From August 1st–9th, CHP’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force joined more than 100 law enforcement agencies nationwide for the National Organized Retail Crime Blitz, conducting coordinated enforcement operations at businesses, shopping centers, and retail stores across California.

The results:
• 97 suspects arrested, including 8 on felony charges
• More than 8,500 stolen items recovered
• Approximately $1.05 million in stolen merchandise recovered

These efforts build on last year’s success and reflect CHP’s continued commitment to holding organized retail theft suspects accountable and protecting California businesses and communities.

WRONG ROUTE. ⛔ MULTIPLE VIOLATIONS. ❌

Recently, the Golden Gate Division Commercial Operations Unit stopped a commercial vehicle for speeding on a restricted section of Interstate 580 (I-580) in Oakland. I-580 between Grand Avenue in Oakland and Foothill Boulevard in San Leandro is a restricted route for trucks over 9,000 pounds.

The inspection also revealed the truck was overweight, unregistered, uninsured, and operating without proper authority. 😱

These violations create a safety risk for everyone on the roadway. We remind all commercial operators: know your route, know the requirements, and stay compliant!
