September is Early Literacy!

📚✨ This September, we’re celebrating Early Literacy! Reading, talking, singing, and playing with your little one builds the foundation for lifelong learning.

👶 For babies: Read with expression, make silly sounds, and let them touch the book.
👧 For toddlers & preschoolers: Ask questions like, “What do you think will happen next?”

💡 Parent Tip: You don’t have to read every word! Pointing out pictures and talking about them is just as valuable.

Help Your Child Communicate, Free Family Play Event! A new caregiver coaching series for families of children birth to 5 with communication delays, autism, or other developmental differences.

Family Play Event:

Here are some ways for your partner to bond with baby:
• Holding your baby while they are awake and alert.
• Gently rocking your baby to sleep.
• Bathing your baby.
• Skin-to-skin contact.

First 5 Solano's Rise Vallejo Initiative Wins 2026 NACo Achievement Award!

First 5 Solano's Rise Vallejo Initiative has been awarded a 2026 NACo Achievement Award, recognizing its cross-sector partnership with Child Start and the Solano County Office of Education to transform a shuttered public school into a multi-provider early learning and family resource center.

Rise Vallejo now provides 18 classrooms and supports over 200 childcare slots annually, demonstrating how counties can leverage public assets to build sustainable childcare infrastructure.

Join us in celebrating World Breastfeeding Week from August 1-7! This week is dedicated to recognizing the vital role breastfeeding plays in providing essential nutrition for a newborn's growth and development. It's a great opportunity for parents to learn more about its importance and health benefits.

🌟 Black Breastfeeding Week: August 25-31 🌟

Later in the month, from August 25-31, we also observe Black Breastfeeding Week. This important week aims to raise awareness of the disparities in breastfeeding rates among Black women and encourages community support and resources to promote breastfeeding.
