This is an example of the way I receive word of and have continued to document the City of Vallejo’s “care for and management of”our government seized, followed by stolen property, which our nonprofit land trust acquired by your direct donation of gifts, or your donation of funds for our purchases to operate in every way, the Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve
It isn’t hard for those who faithfully volunteered for our founding nonprofit land trust for the Mare Island Preserve, to quickly notice when something is VERY wrong. I received these photos in a text from a volunteer.
You might not see me at the Preserve regularly, now. But, I am grateful that I still have my “eyes and ears” on the ground. It sure helps to track criminal activity of any source, when you have the receipts.
May I note that at least one photo also shows the forensic evidence of the removal of original vent covers from the City of Vallejo listed Mare Island Historic District contributing building, A-167?
I have confirmed and with a formal police report filed by me, that at sometime prior to May 31, 2024, that after removing these vent covers, thieves dropped an approximately 60 ft ladder into our visitor center, broke out extra thick glass munition explosion resistant windows, bent and cut apart the metal sashes, freely opened the pin locks for the protective shutters on one set of windows, and used this access to steal potentially 10’s of thousands of dollars worth of our archive collections, operating equipment, tools, damaged displays, urinated in and on our belongings and because of the 4-large 4x6 foot openings in the roof, because the City of Vallejo did nothing to repair the holes in the 2024 break-in, as our nonprofit did with your donations when we invested $1,500 to repair Building 168 next door, also a City Historic District contributing structure, and keep it safe from rain damage, the CITY OF VALLEJO DID NOTHING to seal up the roof vent gaps, even with a formal Vallejo Police Department case filed by me. So, for 2 winter seasons, the CITY OF VALLEJO, continued to violate our rights by seizing our property without a warrant to do so, and then encouraged additional damage to our belongings by exposure to flooding rains. Are you just a bit broken-hearted and even angry?!
I’ve recently been accused of all sorts of things on social media by two less than adoring, what I would portray as bullies at best and libel slinging, malignant narcissistic sociopaths, at worst. One, posted more than 10-12 mean statements in response to our first post of city supplied photos, last week, showing the broken into 40 ft container. She said she was appalled by how I post only bad stuff about Mare Island, saying she understands fully now why people on the Island don’t like me and suggests that I should move, after 32 years of misery here on the Island. The second one repeatedly called me a “Grifter-to the extreme”. She said everything including the “cash box…” was for my benefit. She announced with great conviction, that we failed to file our nonprofit taxes for 10 years. Which, one viewer, disproved with a visit to the IRS website and follow up screenshots.
So, while we were dedicated to honoring your precious family and personal or found archives, displaying them, protecting them under lock and key, with docents and most often me, as the Preserve Manager present, and locking the visitor center securely each and every day, from 2007-2019, and also carefully investing the funds (you freely donated based on the gift, rather than ever charging you) in equipment, items that made the Preserve safe, enjoyable, fully ADA accessible and revenue generating, and through our labor of love, the entire place protected, cultural, natural, archeological, scenic and recreational, has been thrashed in every imaginable way through fire for hire and systematically violated and destroyed by the City of Vallejo.
Don’t get me wrong. We were honored to enjoy a tremendous working relationship with our fine City, for well more than a decade before the wheels fell off of City Hall under the weight of extreme crookedness, there.
In 2003 we were appointed to two Mayoral appointed Taskforces (35 member) and Committees (18 member) to make recommendations regarding a mechanism to as the Mayor directed us to do, “make operation of the planned park pencil out, because our staff can’t.” Four and 5 years later we came back with 3 Reports, which were all accepted by Council, following the City hiring of a prestigious park planning firm out of Sacramento, to assist us in finalizing our Reports.
Among the 150 or so pages of 3 separate documents, we recommended the creation of a new independent, nonprofit with whom the City would establish a partnership to open and manage the property to highly protective of resources, public access for the first time in 150 years.
This we did with great success due to your enthusiastic support. All you have to do is visit in person or compare photos/FB posts of our “BEFORE, nonprofit managed Preserve” blossoming and ever enriching and protective of ALL resources, for the first 12 years and “AFTER, City/Federal Agency” operated last 7 years of increasing ravages and derelict state.
NOW THIS! City shared approximately 100 photos of what their OWN STAFF has allowed our private/public nonprofit assets to deteriorate to.
Join my fellow Board of directors, also founders with me and our volunteer team, of this wildlands park, 19 years ago last month, and the 11,000 petition signers who demanded the City return our nonprofit land trust as managers of the Mare Island Preserve and the most courageous Ms Roxann Reyes making plans to run as a write-in candidate for Vallejo Council representative, District 4 which fully includes our Mare Island Preserve, in demanding a criminal investigation, and justice for this community of Mare Island Preserve Users and the resources that have been irreparably damaged under their lack of stewardship and worse.
