Nitro WILL NOT even look at Tax Ballot Measures throughout the Shire this season. They are NOT good for dogs or their people. (There’ll be no money left for dog treats, they won’t build a dozen new dog parks or even one with their taxes) So, there’s “no dog gone way” I’m for more taxes. Those were the days...summer and fall of 2020 when together we defeated Measure G, a sales tax that would have made our Vallejo sales taxes the highest in region! Guess what? City Hall is up to it again. This time they've place Measure P on the ballot with even higher taxes proposed. Let's get real. Squish this tax like a bug, too. When will City staff learn that we really love our city, but we don't love their misappropriation and misspending of our tax funds entrusted to them? Follow our new page, Vote NO On Measure P Vallejo 2022.

Does it seem to you that in the last couple of years, there have been a lot of great community-run places closed or drastically changed on Mare Island? Did your kids grow up playing at the Sports Center? Did they play on a Rugby Team? Did you used to take your dogs to a dog park in an old baseball field? Did you used to play golf on Mare Island? Are they going to open it back up? What has happened to the Mare Island Museum? When will it open, again? When will the Mare Island Preserve visitor center open back up? What ever happened to that film company that was making a television series?

These are just some of the questions I get asked every week. I’ve sure tried to get and give answers. No one seems to know much.

Let’s gather this Sunday afternoon, April 24, 2:30-4:30pm at the Joseph Rm., JFK Library 505 Santa Clara St. and compare notes. We’ll tell you as much as we do know. Then, if you really want things more like they used to be, let’s get a strategy out there and work together on it in a few followup meetings.

Our petition to return as the Founding Nonprofit land trust managers of the Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve is moments from another milestone! We have 9. NINE more signatures to reach 9,300 of our 10,000 goal sending a loud and clear message to the Vallejo Mayor and City Council that just because the Preserve was reopened as a jogging trail, it needs to return to the Nature and Cultural History Wildlands Community it was for the 12 plus years the Mare Island Heritage Trust founded and funded it for our community enjoyment and for the enjoyment of ALL Californians. Did you know that? Sign and share and ask those you share with, to ALSO SHARE! Thank you.

Do you know that our Vote NO on Measure G team was headed-up by me, Myrna Hayes precisely because this Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve and our stellar efforts to operate and fund it without City dollars, was foolishly and abruptly ceased by the former city manager who was the mastermind behind Measure G?

I’m planning to be present and Facebook Live! Be there, good people. Sarah Nichols just proves it’s best to never give up! Hey, my step grandfather was Dean Nichols. Maybe we’re related! Why am I posting this news on our Mare Island and Vote No on Measure G pages? Take a close look. The better half of the stairs mosaics are dedicated to Mare Island. And, nearly $100,000 of the funds for the art aspect came from the good people of the community, NOT our tax dollars. That’s partnership which is what I’m ALL about. ❤️
