The Valhalla Fire Department would like to congratulate Firefighter Alfonso Tarantino on successfully graduating from the Westchester County Firefighter 1 Certification Class!

Firefighter 1 is an important milestone for every new firefighter. The course provides the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills needed to safely operate at emergency scenes, work as part of a fire company, and begin building the experience necessary to serve our community.

For our newest members, completing Firefighter 1 is just the first step in their journey as a volunteer firefighter. From here, there are countless opportunities to continue training, gain experience, and develop the skills needed to help protect our neighbors.

Alfonso, congratulations on this accomplishment! We’re proud to have you as a member of the Valhalla Fire Department and look forward to seeing all you accomplish.

Throwback Thursday!

Today we are throwing it back to when members of the Valhalla Fire Department, along with Engine 82 and Rescue 9, visited Kensico School for a fun Touch-a-Truck event!

Our members had a great time sharing the trucks, equipment, and fire service experience with the kids. It was awesome seeing their excitement as they got an up-close look at the rigs and learned a little about what we do in the community.

We love getting out into the community and sharing our firehouse family with the next generation!

The Valhalla Fire Department stands in solidarity with our brothers and sisters of the Elmsford and Piseco Fire Departments on the loss of Chief Steve Wohrle. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the members of both departments.

We ask for your prayers for our EFD Ex-Chief Steve Woehrle, who has passed away. Chief Woehrle most recently served as Chief of the Piseco NY Fire Department.

We are deeply grateful for his unwavering commitment, leadership and service to both departments. Chief Woehrle’s courage, dedication and selfless service will always be remembered. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Gayle, daughters, Lisa & Katelyn, and their entire family during this incredibly difficult time.

May Chief Woehrle rest in eternal peace. 🖤❤️🖤

Some roads are closed due to flooding, downed trees, or downed wires. Avoid barricaded roads and seek alternate routes. (See comments for updated list of closures)

• Stay away from downed trees and power lines. Assume all wires are energized and immediately report hazards to 911 and your utility company.

• If your basement floods and you need help removing the water or you need non emergency assistance contact the Valhalla Fire Department at (914) 949-6020.

Please use caution, stay informed, and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.

⚽️ Community Notice – FIFA World Cup Final at Kensico Dam

This Sunday, the FIFA World Cup Final will be shown live at Kensico Dam Plaza. Event organizers are expecting nearly 11,000 attendees, so motorists should plan for heavy traffic throughout the afternoon.

Important Event Information:

🚧 Road closures will be similar to those used during the annual fireworks event.
🕛 Gates open at 12:00 PM.
⚽ Kickoff is at 3:00 PM.
⏱️ The event is expected to conclude approximately 30 minutes after the final whistle.
🚗 No parking is available at Kensico Dam Plaza. Guests must use designated parking locations and have the appropriate parking pass.
🪑 Chairs are not permitted. Small blankets and towels are allowed.
🎟️ A free event ticket is required for admission.

The Valhalla Fire Department will be on-site throughout the event. Additional firefighters will remain in quarters to ensure Valhalla continues to receive uninterrupted emergency response during the event.

Please expect delays and use alternate routes whenever possible if traveling through the Village of Valhalla.

Yesterday members visited summer camp at EF Academy showing the international students the trucks and teaching them about the fire service! The students were able to ride in the bucket of Tower Ladder 49 and get on a hand line of Engine 84.
