VSU Students, Faculty and Staff Members, the Valdosta/Lowndes County Community, and other friends, please help me to “Pay It Forward” to Valdosta State University’s African American Studies Program. On January 16, 2016, at my Retirement Celebration, many of you helped us to fundraise for the Dr. Shirley H. Hardin Paying It Forward Scholarship. On January 16, 2020, four years later, the members of the Paying It Forward Scholarship Committee, chaired by Mr. Charleston L. Carter, will officially endow the scholarship and award at least one scholarship every spring of the academic year. If Dr. Shirley H. Hardin, or any members of the VSU Family/Community have ever done anything to enrich and encourage your academic pursuits, NOW is your opportunity to help “Pay It Forward” to someone else who needs the encouragement to succeed. Please contact us at [email protected] or 229-249-4843 for more information about how to donate to this scholarship.

Valdosta State University is now offering students the chance to study the work of Beyoncé for academic credit.
