📚 A National Literacy Day celebration worth reading about!

Clyattville Elementary School has been named a Bright Spots Top School in literacy by The 74, a national nonprofit news organization focused on education, after an analysis found the school's third-grade students significantly EXCEEDED reading proficiency expectations!

The 74 analyzed third-grade reading performance at more than 41,000 schools across the United States, examining student achievement alongside demographic and socioeconomic factors. The analysis identified schools where students performed notably higher than statistical projections.

Based on the school’s 81% economically disadvantaged student population included in the analysis, Clyattville was projected to have approximately 31% of its third-grade students reading proficiently. Instead, over 50% of Clyattville’s third graders demonstrated reading proficiency, exceeding the projected rate by nearly 20 percentage points.

The results earned Clyattville recognition as one of The 74’s Bright Spots Top Schools in literacy, highlighting schools across the country whose students are achieving at levels beyond what demographic trends might predict.

“This recognition means so much because it reflects what we believe about children at Clyattville. ALL Means ALL. We believe every child can learn at high levels, and we refuse to place limits on what our students can achieve,” expresses Principal Maggie Moody. “Our students continue to exceed expectations because they are surrounded by teachers and staff who believe in them, respond to their individual needs, and work together to help them succeed.“

The recognition was made even more special as Superintendent Sandra Wilcher and the Lowndes County Board of Education honored Clyattville Elementary during tonight’s board meeting, coinciding with . The celebration highlighted the students and educators behind Clyattville’s reading success as the school joined others across the country in celebrating literacy achievements.
