I’m the parent of a student who has attended VECA for the past two years, and it has been a meaningful experience for our family. When she was accepted, we felt grateful for the opportunity, and while we initially had some concerns about balance, we quickly saw her grow into a well-rounded student who has done well academically (consistently honor roll)while also participating in band and cheerleading. Learning that the school will be closing so abruptly is difficult and unexpected, and while I understand that decisions like this can be complex and shaped by factors families may not fully see, it has still been challenging to process. From a parent’s perspective, earlier communication and more opportunity for input from students, families, and staff could have helped everyone better prepare for this transition, and having more time to process and plan would have made a meaningful difference. I am pro school choice and I recognize there are other schools that can support my child’s education, and I remain focused on her continued success, but VECA has been a place where she felt supported and comfortable, which is not easily replaced. My thoughts are with the students, families, and faculty navigating this change, and I hope the transition is handled with care for everyone involved.
