❄️⚓ You Know What Time It Is… Winterizing Season! ⚓❄️
The mornings are getting cooler, the days are getting shorter, and that can only mean one thing in Valdez — it’s time to start getting the harbor ready for winter.
One of the first signs of the season is our crew pulling the floating fish cleaning tables out of the water. Each one gets pressure washed, blown down, cleaned up, and stacked away for its long winter nap.
Don’t worry, though — if you’re still out there chasing a few late-season fish, we’ve got you covered.
In the North Harbor, our two uplands fish cleaning stations will remain available:
• By the Harbormaster Office
• At the top of I Ramp
We’ll also be leaving the South Harbor floating fish cleaning station in the water as long as possible since it’s the only cleaning station available on that side.
Basically, the fish tables are starting to migrate to higher ground before the snow flies. 🎣😂
And one more seasonal reminder: the Harbormaster Office is back to winter hours:
Monday–Sunday | 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Our crew will continue working through the winterizing list over the coming weeks. Around here, winter doesn’t exactly send a calendar invite, so we like to be ready when it shows up. ❄️
Thanks for another great summer on the waterfront, and good luck to everyone still squeezing in a few more days on the water!

We’re finishing up Safe + Sound Week with some hands-on fire extinguisher training! 🧯🔥

Employees had the opportunity to practice proper extinguisher use and build confidence in responding safely during a fire emergency. Training like this reinforces an important reminder: knowing what to do before an emergency happens can make all the difference.

A great way to wrap up a week focused on keeping safety at the forefront every day.
