City of Vacaville Director of Public Works Brian Oxley will retire effective October 1, 2026, concluding more than two decades of service to the City.

Oxley began his career with Vacaville in 2002 and has more than 25 years of experience in public works and municipal engineering. Throughout his career, he has helped advance critical infrastructure projects and supported the delivery of essential services to the Vacaville community.

We thank Brian for his leadership, expertise, and commitment to public service and wish him and his family all the best in retirement.

Director of Utilities Justen Cole will also serve as Interim Director of Public Works effective October 1.

In observance of Labor Day, City of Vacaville offices will be closed Monday, September 7.

Labor Day is an opportunity to recognize the dedication and contributions of workers throughout our community, including the many City of Vacaville employees who serve residents every day.

We are grateful to our City staff across every department for the work they do to support our community; maintaining streets and parks, providing programs and services, supporting local businesses, keeping City operations moving, responding to community needs, and helping make Vacaville a great place to live, work, and visit.

A special thank-you goes to the employees who will continue working throughout the holiday. Police, Fire, and Utilities maintain 24-hour operations.

Thank you to all City of Vacaville employees for your service, professionalism, and commitment to our community.

Sharing Caltrans Bay Area-District 4 Release: Caltrans is scheduled to begin pavement rehabilitation work on State Route 113 in Solano County beginning Tuesday, September 8.

Nightly one-way traffic control will be in place from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM between East Parkway Boulevard, Dixon, and the Highway 12/Highway 113 junction near Rio Vista. Work is expected to continue through Tuesday, September 15.

Motorists should allow extra travel time and expect delays. The schedule is weather dependent.

The City of Vacaville is seeking public review and comment on its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) for Program Year 2025–2026.

CDBG funding is awarded annually to the City by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to help improve housing and neighborhood conditions, with the principal goal of benefiting low- and moderate-income residents. The CAPER outlines the accomplishments of the City’s CDBG program during the past year.

The Draft 2025–2026 CAPER is available for a 15-day public review and comment period from September 6 through September 21, 2026.

The City Council will also hold a public meeting to discuss and receive comments on the CAPER before it is submitted to HUD, Tuesday, September 22, 2026, 6:00 PM, City Council Chambers, 650 Merchant Street.

Community members and organizations are encouraged to participate and may provide comments in writing or during the public meeting.

The City of Vacaville is accepting applications for the new Sales Tax Citizens’ Oversight Committee.

The five-member committee will help provide public review, transparency, and accountability for local sales tax revenues by reviewing annual reports, audits, and expenditures.

Applicants must be Vacaville residents. Members will serve voluntarily and meet at least quarterly.

Apply by Monday, October 5, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
