Rotary member Tammie, Director of the El Progreso Memorial Library, was the guest speaker at the May 14 meeting. She shared the many exciting changes and improvements taking place at the library as it continues to grow as a community hub for learning, connection, and opportunity. One of the highlighted initiatives was the Uvalde Youth Leadership Council (YLC), a program in partnership with UT Teen Health.

Tammie also invited the Rotary Club to attend the Uvalde Youth Leadership Council end-of-year celebration as part of our scheduled dinner social. The event was held at Hangar 6 on May 21.

During the evening dinner, Rotary members had the opportunity to share information about Rotary and its mission of “service above self” with the teens and their families. The event also provided a valuable opportunity to hear directly from local youth and parents about ideas and input for future community projects.
