Today, we celebrate the retirement of a great man.
After more than 38 years of dedicated service to the United States of America, Joe Reyes is officially hanging up the uniform and beginning a well-earned retirement.
Joe’s career is a testament to service, sacrifice, and leadership. From serving our nation in the U.S. Army, to protecting our borders with U.S. Customs, and ultimately finishing an incredible career with the U.S. Border Patrol, Joe has spent nearly four decades answering the call to serve.
Known as one of the most respected Field Training Officers in the Uvalde Station, Joe helped train and mentor countless Border Patrol Agents throughout his career. His impact extends far beyond the badge. He has been a leader, teacher, mentor, and friend to so many who have had the privilege of working alongside him.
Joe is also well-known throughout our community, earning the respect and admiration of local residents, schools, law enforcement agencies, first responders, businesses, and community partners. His professionalism, integrity, and willingness to help others have left a lasting mark on everyone he encountered.
While we will certainly miss seeing Joe around the station and in the community, we are grateful for everything he has done for his country, his agency, and the people he served. His legacy will continue through the many agents and leaders he helped develop over the years.
Thank you, Joe, for your service, friendship, leadership, and mentorship. Congratulations on an incredible career and a well-deserved retirement.
Enjoy every minute—you’ve earned it.
