HazMat Technician class. 15 members are in attendance with 2 guests. This is a 3 day class being conducted by HazMatOhio, LLC funded through a grant from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.
HazMat Techs can make entry into hazardous scenes to help control and mitigate leaks, or releases of hazardous materials.
This level of training exceeds our current equipment capabilities. With this depth of knowledge though, our members can make informed decisions on response and mitigation of hazardous scenes. Due to SR62, SR13 and the river, it is crucial to be prepared for anything.

A great partnership to help the community! Thank you for the donation and look forward to see where this campaign goes!

The Utica Service Center at CES Credit Union was happy to provide a donation to County Line Joint Fire District for their Signs Save Lives campaign. 🙂

This campaign aims to provide clear signage for homes in the Utica area. Visible house numbers are critical during emergencies, yet many homes have been found to have missing or difficult-to-read address markers.

Donations are always welcome to help maintain access to this important, potentially life-saving resource for those who may not otherwise be able to afford it.

Did you drive up 62 east of town and see smoke coming from a house? That was training smoke!
Today's crew, along with Lt Kara Smith and Lt Gavin Weaver took advantage of the 2 story structure we have been given to practice VEIS drills with Newton Township Fire Department.
VEIS stands for Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search. This is a tactic that can get firefighters to the bedrooms faster, which is where the majority of victims are found per Firefighter Rescue Survey.
The crews also spent some time with the new Seek Thermal imagers. While it was not an elevated temperature, just getting comfortable carrying and looking at the devices are the first step.
Thank you once again for allowing us to use the structure for training.

County Line Joint Fire District provided coverage at the Utica Ice Cream festival this past weekend. The crews had a wonderful time and always enjoys spending time with the community.

This event also kicked off our Signs Save Lives drive. This initiative came from Lieutenant Smith which she presented at her promotional process. Being able to identify addresses is a main priority during an emergency and many houses have been identified as not having adequate or readable numbers. One of the pictures shows her working on an address sign. These signs are available through the fire district and free for the resident of Washington Township and Morgan Township thanks to our contributing partners. Donations are always accepted to ensure continued access for all that can not afford this life saving tool.

In their continued commitment to the American Fire Service, Seek Thermal donated two thermal imaging camera's to the County Line Joint Fire District.

The larger one is an VRS. This is a decision making camera for the company officer. It provides immediate data to make decisions easier and allows us to be smarter and more aggressive with our tactics.

The smaller one is a 300 situational awareness camera and provides the ability for the carrier to identify items and objects along with important data in the event of an emergency.

Training with these devices will be a priority to enhance our operations and better serve you, the public! These cameras will be placed on our first out fire engine once training is completed.

Thank you Seek for all you do to provide additional protection to our firefighters and citizens.
