Staff Spotlight: Kala Roman, Developmental Specialist 🔦

This month we're shining the spotlight on Kala, who has been with CCBDD for six years!

What is something people might be surprised to learn about your work?

"As a developmental specialist, I help evaluate new children in the program and carry a small service coordination caseload. Early intervention helps transition to preschool when a child gets close to their third birthday."

What is something you enjoy doing outside of work?

"I enjoy spending time with my family; especially watching both of my children be active in sports."

Thank you, Kala, for your dedication to supporting children and families and making a difference in the lives of those you serve.

💛 Have you heard about the S.P.O.T. Program? The S.P.O.T. Program, or 'Special Population Operation Team', helps give first responders important information that may assist them when responding to or interacting with a community member with special needs.

The program is available for both children and adults. Information provided through the application is kept on file with our Communications Center so responding units can access it when needed.

Interested in enrolling yourself or a loved one?

✔️ Request an application from the Sheriff’s Office
✔️ Contact the Communications Center and a deputy can deliver one
✔️ Complete the application and include a current photo, if available

A little information ahead of time can help our first responders better understand the needs of the person they are assisting.

Contact the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office or Communications Center to request an application or learn more about the program.
