If you find a lost dog or cat, please remember that safety comes first.

⚠️ Children should never approach or attempt to catch a lost pet on their own. Even friendly pets can become frightened, stressed, or injured and may bite or scratch when scared.

If you find a lost pet:

✔️ Notify a parent, guardian, or other trusted adult
✔️ If safe to do so, provide the pet with a secure location, food, and water
✔️ Post a clear photo and location in:
• Urbana IA Neighborhood Chat
• Urbana Community Group
✔️ Check for identification tags
✔️ Contact a veterinarian or Cedar Valley Humane Society to check for a microchip
✔️ If the owner cannot be located, contact Cedar Valley Humane Society

Our parks, trails, green spaces, sidewalks, and public areas are shared by everyone. Please help keep Urbana clean, safe, and enjoyable by picking up after your pets.

City ordinances require pet owners to immediately remove and properly dispose of pet waste left by their animals on public or private property.

🐶 Bring waste bags when walking your dog
🗑️ Dispose of pet waste in a proper trash receptacle
🌳 Help keep parks and green spaces clean for families and children
💚 Be a considerate neighbor and community member

🌿 POCKET PARK GRANT UPDATE 🌿
The City of Urbana would like to provide an update regarding the proposed Pocket Park Grant application. Included with this post is a concept image intended to help residents visualize the general idea of the proposed downtown greenspace and social gathering area. Please note this is only a preliminary concept image and does not represent a final design or approved plan.

As part of the grant eligibility process, the City was required to complete a Low-to-Moderate Income (LMI) survey within the proposed service area. While the City received survey responses, there were not enough completed surveys returned within the short application timeframe to move forward with submission for this funding cycle. WE ARE SENDING OUT SURVEYS AGAIN!

The City intends to continue collecting survey responses so Urbana can be better prepared to apply again when the grant program is anticipated to reopen in February.

🌱 We are starting to see positive responses come in regarding the surveys — thank you, Urbana! Let’s keep the momentum going!
📬 If you received a survey in the mail, please complete and return it as soon as possible. Because the surveys were sent to a randomly selected sample of households within the proposed service area, each returned survey helps determine whether the City qualifies for future funding opportunities.

The proposed Pocket Park concept continues to focus on creating a downtown greenspace and social gathering space intended to support community connection, walkability, downtown activity, and increased community gathering opportunities.

The City appreciates everyone who has already participated and encourages residents to continue asking questions and staying involved as the process moves forward.

Residents with questions are encouraged to contact the City directly so information can be answered accurately and properly shared with the Mayor and City Council.
