Thank you to the Telecommunicators at UIPD! They are the ones who assist us in dispatching our safewalks!
Things move fast in an emergency. We're grateful to have highly-trained, cool-minded telecommunicators who are crucial to keeping our communities safe. Telecommunicators are the first point of contact between the public and the police, and they are responsible for gathering the right information and communicating it clearly so that police officers can do their jobs quickly and effectively.
Our officers can't do their jobs without our wonderful TCs here at UIPD. And in Champaign County, the person who answers the phone when you call 911 and talks you through what may be one of the worst moments in your life is a telecommunicator at METCAD 9-1-1 - Champaign County, Illinois. We thank everyone who works in that important role here and around the country. Have a great National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week!
