West Virginia’s fire death rate is one of the worst in the nation. The fire commission hasn’t made a prevention plan since it was founded in 1976.

We are excited to announce that the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office has officially launched our new, digital Home Safety Survey (see Attachment), and we are asking for your help to get it into the hands of your residents.

Our goal is to make it easier for West Virginians to identify home fire hazards and take proactive steps toward safety. This tool is designed to be a quick, five-minute assessment that provides immediate safety guidance to residents while helping us better understand fire safety trends across the state.

How your department can help:
Share the link: Please include firemarshal.wv.gov and the home safety surveys QR code on your department’s website and social media pages.
Promote locally: Share the survey during your community outreach events, school visits, and public demonstrations.
Encourage participation: Use this tool as a simple, effective resource for homeowners and renters in your jurisdiction to perform their own “home fire safety check.”

By integrating this survey into your local community risk reduction efforts, we can work together to ensure that every household in West Virginia has the tools they need to stay safe.

On June 6th, Upper Tract Volunteer Fire Department hosted our annual golf tournament at The Highlands Golf Club. An eventful day & we send out a huge thank you to all who sponsored, participated, & helped. All was greatly appreciated!!!

Winners:
1st Place- Johnny Thompson’s Team -they received a 4 person golf pass with cart to Massanutten Golf Course, a 4 person golf pass to the Highlands Golf Course, 2 T-shirts from Elevated Grounds, $25 Elevated Grounds Gift Card, & $25 Gift Card to Olive Garden!

2nd Place- Charlie Burgoyne’s Team - they received a 4 person golf pass with cart to Shenandoah Valley Golf Course, in Front Royal Virginia, $50 Gift Card to Olive Garden, & $25 Gift Certificate to the Korner Shop Cafe!

3rd Place- Jesse Lambert’s Team - they received a 4 person golf pass to Packsaddle Golf Course, in Kezzletown, Virginia & $50 Gift Certificate to Yokum’s.
