It is with a great deal of sadness that we mourn the passing of Deputy Hendricks who selflessly served the citizens of Wyandot County for numerous years. Deputy Hendricks volunteered countless hours to ensure the citizens of Wyandot County and other deputies were safe. Deputy Hendricks proudly wore the badge with honor and integrity. His sacrifice for this community will never be forgotten, especially his dedication to helping the K-9 Unit whether it was joining us tracking for suspects, watching our backs during drug searches or simply spoiling the four-legged deputies with treats and their handlers with never ending ice cream. Rest easy friend, we will take it from here!

We often receive inquiries about K9 apparel or donations. We are excited to have tshirts available for those that may be interested in showing their support for our 4-legged partners. We cannot thank our community enough for your continued support!

Hey Everyone! We are often asked for shirts so the Wyandot County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit and I have decided to make shirts that have all of our dogs on them! We are using these as a fundraiser to help supplement our K9 Funds, these funds are used to provide vet care, food and other supplies for our dogs!

You can order through the link below, and shirts can be picked up at Kimmel Apparel when the orders are ready! For anyone that cant pick up, there will be a spot for you to designate that and we will ensure those order can get shipped or delivered! To Neds Guide Dogs of America - Tender Loving Canines family, we can definitely get orders shipped individually or to the campus for pick up! Happy 6th Birthday to K9 Bristol! She’s sweet, sassy, a bit ornery, but always knows when it’s time to zone in for work. She’s a tracking machine. Bristol has had a very active year and is excited to continue that into the new year. One of her favorite things is meeting all the residents of Wyandot County! Help us wish Bristol a very happy birthday! 🐾💙🖤

The pups are happy when we have busy nights. We are grateful to have the help of our energetic 4 legged colleagues when we need them.

So far on nightshift, K9 Christo has been deployed for several drug detection sniffs of vehicles - an article search along a stretch of highway after the occupants of a vehicle were suspected of discarding illegal contraband or weapons - a drug detection sniff in the jail to help corrections staff take preventative measures against contraband introduction into the jail.

Last week, the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit collaborated with the Ohio State Highway Patrol on an initiative aimed at combating criminal activity in Wyandot County. During the operation, several drug seizures were made, a stolen vehicle was recovered, and arrests were made on outstanding warrants.

This past week, the K9 Unit participated in the annual NAPCH training seminar in Alpena, Michigan. The pups were tired after some long days of intensive training, but they did a wonderful job. The training was supervised by trainers and master trainers from across the U.S. and Canada.

During the seminar, Sgt. Yoder applied for and completed the process of obtaining his trainer certification through NAPCH. Sgt. Yoder will work with master trainers to help train K9 teams during future events. Sgt. Yoder will also help train K9 teams for the Wyandot County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit and Northwest Ohio K9 Group during our weekly training.

We are proud of all the hard work and achievements the K9 teams put in and are grateful for the opportunity to continue advancing our skills. We look forward to putting those skills to use as we continue serving our community.
