On our way to bigger things!

We were so amazed at the generosity of these WHS JAGS who came out to help us today begin the process of getting the school house rooms and exhibits ready for tours. They worked along side committee members, amd community members to clean, move, and rearrange exhibits. It was hard work.

Let me tell you, without them we would not have begun to see the visions of what we want this Academy to be to our community.

We have a ways to go, but we see the finish line for opening thanks to everyone's help!

Good Afternoon , a few weeks ago Phil Goldsborough and I, carried Brice Stump and Freddie Howard to an old Plantation site that has been in the Walker family, The Waters family and the Stone family. This is the site where Samuel Chase was born. His mother was Matilda Walker daughter of Thomas Walker Jr. She died on this property shortly after given birth to Samuel Chase . We found remains of old buildings on the site that most likely date to the late 1600's to early 1700's. The bricks were very old and used limestone mortar. There is also a State sign in front of the site naming this as the birthplace of Samuel Chase. We found 3 tombstones that were from the Waters family and one child from the Stone family. We also did have permission to be there.
